Why do you have two cars when you're in college? Are you working? What's the point?

I work full time and go to classes full time. As of now I am set to graduate with <$2000 in loans. I have two cars because I bought the 2nd for my fiancee at the time, who I have since ended the relationship with. So I have a second car (both were bought new).

I don't want to spend $430/mo in car payments which is the whole point of looking for a new car, but I find it interesting to see what I could be driving for the same amount per month 🙂

My goal was $250/mo but without a hefty down payment, I would be closer to the low $300 range

Ashame the '08 turbo Cobalt isn't available yet. The Supercharged Cobalt was a really good performer with it's only short coming being it's late 90's styling

I'm afraid you're going to be waiting for naught, it ain't happening.

That said, the supercharged 4cyl. was a superb motor, far better than anything turboed IMHO.

It was a great motor that DESERVED to be turbo'd

For the insurance, can't you call them up armed with a VIN? They should be able to give you at least an estimate...

I got quotes for the MS3, GTi, and Civic Si. My rates were MS3, Si, GTi from least to most expensive to insure. The difference in price between the MS3 (lowest) and GTi (highest) was only like $12/mo but a difference is there none the less.

I just called up my agent and said I would like quotes on these 3 vehicles with trading in my current vehicles. They gave me a call back a few hours later with quotes.

I know most of this thread is devoted to performance, confort, price, etc. However, safety is important too. The Mazda3 rates poor in the side-impact crash test, whereas the Civic and Impreza both rate good.

When I looked at mazda speed 3 I found a small problem with their options by the way. They did not offer heated seats. Leaving in Chicago, that was a deal breaker for me. Other than that, If you don't mind the front wheel drive, its a great car for the money.

You know you can get your massage seat pad that heats your bum too right?
