Picked up CivCity Rome on STEAM last night for $0.99

I played for four hours, and the was just the learning campaign and I must say, it is one of the most enjoyable City Builders that I have played. Very extensive game and VERY VERY hard on the graphics.

With "Ashley" in my sig, I was achieving a whole "3" yes three FPS on Ultra settings at 1024 resolution.

Do yourself a favor and grab it for a buck. Totally worth it.

I also picked up Grand Ages Rome and Imperium Romanum Gold Edition. Will post some shots of those once I play them.

Here are a few screens of CivCity.

These here are from Grand Ages Rome. Another fantastic game. I'm not very far yet...but the visuals are gorgeous. And it is $2.00 on STEAM.

Oh, and Grand Ages Rome supports all wide screen resolutions.

To my knowledge so far, Grand Ages Rome is like CivCity Rome, with Rome Total War battles. :)

I bought it a few days ago, haven't played it yet but I remember the reviewers hammered it because it fell short of other games of that type when it came out. Glad to hear I didn't waste a buck :D

I see the Grand Ages Rome price went up to $10 now. Or it looks like you can get both for about $5 if bought individual games.

I failed my first campaign attempt. Instead of training, I jumped right in and got my ass kicked :)

This game requires a little training. The building / civilization options are almost endless.

Stone/gold/iron/water/pigs/fields/marble and about 20 other resources are needed to build. Shit, my first attempt, I had 9 of my buildings burnt down because I had no outposts to protect them from the riot because I didnt have enough wood to build them.

Another great game.

civcity rome is pretty old game, i had it and it was like a clone of the old sierra's caesar games.

grand ages is probably an update to it.

I don't get it... how is being that hard on the graphics a good thing? It doesn't look good enough to do that, so I'd just call it really poorly optimized.

Grand Ages Rome looks infinitely more impressive. I can see that causing some slowness.

Well, I myself never said the slowdowns was a good thing. I said it had alot of slowdowns, but it was a very good game. :)

And yes, Grand Ages is vastly superior in visuals. But I also believe, Grand Ages is not an update to CivCity.

Gameplay while similar, seems simply different. Grand Ages to the trailers I have seen, Has Total War type battles.

don't trust trailers... they did the same thing with tropico 3.

I don't trust trailers as much as the next person. But they were actual gameplay videos on Youtube. And the battles looked exactly like Total War.

Of course I haven't been in one yet, so I cannot confirm that.
