I popped in this oldie last nite and ended up playing til midnight. Hehe. I'm the English, it's somewhere around 1900, and I have nuclear missles! :D I've conquered all of Europe, and 95% of Asia (just a couple Chinese cities left). Africa is pretty much empty, just a few Babylonian cities that the Chinese had taken. I'm doing quite well really. All that's really left is the America's, where the Aztec have had complete reign. They're kinda trapped there because I've got a huge ass navy, but they have almost as much technology as me, so it'll be a long fight. I can't wait to get home and finish the game!!!

Have you played any of the scenarios off the net??? I've just been playing one called "seeds of greatness" which runs from 3500bc to 1ad. Its very cool, guy did a great job. That was my one complaint about CivII, is that you fly through the first 5000 yrs of civilizaton, and spend much of the game in the last 150. Does anyone know of some other exceptional ones?

Civ3 looks completely awesome, check out civ3 if you haven't yet!

You can't really compare civ2 & AOE, two different games, but imho civ2 is the greatest game, EVER!

CIV3 will kick some major ass.... no doubt about it.

Another cool game that is turn-based and involves conquering and advancing is Heroes of Might and Magic III. I think a new one is coming out from that series as well

No. I rarely play the scenarios. I think I'm gonna try the WW2 one, after I win today's game.

What should I do for today's game? Load up some tanks and take the capital city of the Aztecs, which is right near the coast? Or should I land in a corner, build an airprot, and blanket my way through with plane support?

If you like Civilizations, I STRONGLY suggest that you try out the Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and it's expansion-pack! Do it, do it now! It resembles Civ2 ALOT, but it has loads of additional features!

As for the Future... Oh God, just give me Civ3! That'll be the only game I'll need in a LOOONG while! Well, maybe Master of Orion 3 too...

When you get to that point, get about 10 spys and purchase all the enemies cities.

Thanks for the link!

Civ2 is the most addicting game I've ever played. I once played it for 30 hours straight. Probably throw away more months of my life on Civ3 when it get's here.

EDIT: oh, there's another game that deserves all the attention it can get:

Master of Orion 3

I love civ2... but always get overwhelmed and impatient towards the end. Also I usally have flaws in whatever strategy i go through and end up forgetting stuff or doing things in the wrong order.

I saw a post her about what is the most addicting game and someone mentioned civ. So, when I got home I pulled our CTP and it sucked me in.

man, civ3. mmm.... hurry up and release. gah

one thing i didn't like about the previous civ games. the foreign leaders always stay the same, meaning if they are agressive and expansionists, they will remain pissy the entire game. heh. should be every once in a while, the leadership agendas/characteristics change. kinda like changing to suit the times and being modernized.

i hate it when i'm trying to be nice to all other civs and not using nuclear weapons in fear of global warming and having all the terrain jacked up. and there's the stupid celts and vikings launching nukes at each other every turn >_< bastards... (oh well, my engineer army quickly fixed most of the terrain.) and they don't attack me because i'd wipe them out so fast with my bunch of howitzers and vast navy. hehe

oh well, i should stop being mr. nice guy and return to my original play style of world conquerer. :)
too bad world peace isn't a viable option in previous civ games, hope this isn't true in civ3 also.
