Civ 4 mods

The civ 5 discussion got me sort of hankering to play some Civ, but I haven't bought 5, and would like something different than vanilla Civ4.

I know there are a million mods out there, I haven't really tried any of them. I know there's a fantasy oriented one that's very popular, but I think I'm looking for one that's a little more military-ish. Maybe sort of like the North Africa scenario, but bigger in scope.

Which mods do you like or hate, and why?

The first and so far only mod that I've thoroughly enjoyed has been Legends of Revolutions http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=319235

It introduced me to the BUG fix which displays a wealth more info on your current game. It also has the better AI mod which completely makes the difficulty level I play on a lot harder. After that the game adds a lot of nice features like revolutions where any of your cities that become disenchanted with your rule can rebel and spawn a new civilization breaking off from your nation and spawning a civil war of sorts.

Barbarians now if left unchecked can build a competing civilization that may spawn off as a separate entity civ no longer under barbarian rule.

Improved spies. Inquisitor units and Legendary units not unlike wonders for a civilization.

Overall playing this mod gives me a pretty good challenge and opens up new game play without it feeling like a add on.

I've been playing the Planetfall mod lately. It's a recreation of Alpha Centauri on the Civ 4 engine. I quite like it. Unfortunately, I've never played SMAC before, so I can't quite comment on how close it is to the real thing.

Worth checking out though.

Heh, I'm still in enough of a fight at medium difficulty againt the regular AI, not sure I'd like to see more of them or tougher ones.
