Civ 2 multiplayer Gold Edition without CD????

I recently received one of those "thin" laptops, the HP omnibook 500. My only problem with it is that it does not have a CD rom built in (I have to "dock" it). I really -need- to play civ2 on my laptop. I do not know how to play it without the CD. I believe I am running version 1.3 but I am not positive because the civ2 update is nowhere to be found (thanks hasbro for sucking). Anyone have a clue?

The registry has: "CD PATH": "f:\" but tweaking this does not seem to have an effect.

thanks! oh, i did find a civ2_13CRK.com but it did not work (despite the lame program stating that it did).
