Citrix Printer Help *UPDATED - 19OCT06*

This has been an ongoing issue. Sometimes when people login through Citrix and need to print something, their local printer will show up and be available. However, sometimes it will not show up. Usually if people log off and back on again enough times it will eventually show up, however this gets quite annoying.

Any Citrix gurus out there who can tell me where to start trouble shooting this?

Are you talking about when they use nFuse? We recently had to deal with this issue and it turned out the problem lies with the printer itself. The printer needs to support terminal services.
 
how many citrix servers are there?
are the same print drivers instaled on all servers?
are you using universal print driver?

Whenever you log into your Citrix server, you'll see a list of your printers. But with Citrix printers, your printer will have a username right infront of the printer name. Just delete the printer that is associated with the user having a problem. Once the user logs into his Citrix application and tries to print, he should be able to see his printer again.

Are you talking about the list in 'Printers and Faxes', or should there be a list in the Citrix Presentation management console as well? That's the weird thing, when I logged in yesterday, there were NO printers listed in the management console eventhough we had users logged in, which I'm assuming isn't normal.

Printers and Faxes. Once you delete the printer, Citrix will recreate the printer when the user logs in and it should be visible again from the client side. Just make sure you delete the right printer. The printer you want to delete is the printer with the user id associated with it.

I'll have to see if the printer even shows up the next time he logs in (it's not listed at the moment).

And another question, how come some of the clients have a random string of characters showing as their username instead of their actual Windows username (as per the above printers and faxes pic)?

So I managed to get him on the phone at the same time that I was logged into our Citrix server, and he was logged in remotely. His printer did not even show up in the Printers and Faxes menu.

Another thing to note, in the Presentation Server console, his username came up as a random string of characters (it was like, 'WI_xxxxxxxxxxx' or something) instead of his regular user name, SCOTTS.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, however I am guessing they are as his was the only username like that, and he was the only one who's printer wasn't being auto-created...
