I am a boston fan and hate the yankees...but how can you honestly say with a straight face that NY is not a baseball town....it has TWO baseball teams.
As with all chuckywang threads, don't try to understand it, you'll only end up hurting your brain.

What are you talking about? Give me some examples....

Atlanta = Whatever sporting event has a team from Boston, New York, or LA

Otherwise = College Football because of the large number of fans from Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, etc.

Correction, Chicago is THE baseball town.

Sorry, being an impartial observer it's my belief that honor belongs to St. Louis.

lmao, nice try. Got a chuckle out of me atleast.

You mean the Chicago whose White Sox despite being the best team in baseball and winning the World Championship last year yet couldn't fill their stands for most of the year? That Chicago?

All of ohio is a football town, don't get me wrong, baseball and basketball are big, but football is everything during the season. Most Ohioans don't care about any rivalry but Bengals/Browns. High school football is also possibly more popular than any pro sport, games typically get 10000+ in attendance. In the Massilon, OH hospital boys are given a football in their crib after birth.

The majority of people in Washington DC are from someplace else and are the biggest fairweather fans on the planet. When I was a kid the Redskins sucked bigtime until they finally brought in George Allen. During the suck times most of my friends used some variation of <I was born in X and my dad is an X fan so I am an X fan too> where X!= Redskins.

That may have been the case back in the day but I've been in the DC area for the past 4 years and have only gotten the impression that this area is die hard Redskins.

I've worked in the ticket office for Redskins home games the past two years and they fill up 90K+ seats no problem. Their season ticket waiting list is 100,000+ people long. I over hear Redskins conversations all the time during football season. It's most definitely the sport in this area. I'm hoping the Nationals will turn into something now that they actually have an owner.
