I signed up for a citi/fi account for the free palm. Now they want me to use my account for citibank and they will give 250 bux just to have the account open till december.

I talked to the guy once they switch my account over i can change it to the most basic package where by they charge a flat fee of 3 dollars a month if you don't have a lot of money in the account.

Dead and long gone, Bad_Dude. Many folks still "waiting" for their Palms, as well.

Great deal if you snagged it, though.

Actually the deals varies!!! I got my free palm but since they're switching to the new citibank online stuff they want you to keep your account.

If you have existing citibank account prior to this, you get $100, if you do other stuff, you get different amount of $$$ So you can call them up and see what they'll offer you.

Did you receive a letter from them or did they call you? I received a letter for switching the account. But, I didn't get any offer.

I got a letter from them as well, regarding my Money Market account. No deal in there. Just as well, I've been wanting to get my $1133 back from them, but wasn't quite sure how!

I got the letter too but no offer of money. By the way, I just got my Palm Pilot 2 days ago (took 10 weeks from the time my account was approved to the time I received the Palm). I was wondering if I have to switch my account to Citi Bank in order to fulfill the required 6 months? Does anyone know the answer (I really don't want to call them to find out..)?

Citi F/I is shutting down its Internet-only bank and merging it with Citbank Online because they haven't been able to draw enough customers. No new accounts have been accepted since Aug. 1, and existing accounts will be closed by Oct. 1 unless the customer agrees to switch to Citibank Online by Sept. 22.

To get the offer you MUST be an existing citibank customer before you open the citi-fi.. meaning you MUST goto a PHYSICAL bank instead of the online bank. Otherwise you won't get the special offer

I got the $100 offer too, and I was a Citibank customer when I opened a CitiFi account. The Palm finally came in a few days ago, but is going back to Palm inc next week for repair- the backlight is dead out of the box :( Lucky me, I guess.

They tell me in order to get this deal I need a code that was on the letter. Does anyone have this letter handy, with a code? They say it's on the top left hand corner of the letter.

If anyone feels jipped by this deal, I spend an hour arguing with the Citibank online folk about how they did not notify any users either: 1) On their statements, 2) Via Email (even if said email was just a pointer to the web site), 3) Via registered mail or trackable service, 4) Via phone. I find it ironic that Citibank will be sending out the check when accounts are closed via registered mail, but NOTICE of said closing was not important enough to be send via registered mail. The executive appeals office can be reached at 718-248-6433 during business hours. I will be calling 1st thing tommorrow.:disgust:

Oh ya, I haven't been very impressed with Citifi at all, I was going to keep the account open but have had many problems with them. I love my wingspanbank.com account though, they are great to work with.

It was just barely tolerable to keep my account open long enough for the Palm. After all, there are some things that just aren't worth it.

Yep, if they had been half way decent in their conduct toward their customers, I may have stayed with them--but now (and forever) they can bite me! And every time their name comes up in the future--online or word-of-mouth--I'm going to hose 'um.
