Citi Dividend Platinum Select --- > World

I know a lot of people here got the Citi Dividend Platinum Select credit card about two years ago to get their 5% cash back on gas only to have Citi reduce their benefits about a year later.

Well, I held onto my card and Citi has now "closed" the old account and opened a new one for me, based on the new "World" credit card.

Anyone else go through this transition?

If so, did you keep the "World" card.

I know a lot of you say canceling a card is bad, but I have only been with Citi since 2006, and it's just a redundant card for me now since they changed their benefits.

I declined the change. I'm still on the Platinum Select.

I seemingly had no choice in the matter.

BTW, I had no outstanding balance on the old card.

They sent me something in the mail about 2-3 months ago about it and then emailed me about it at the beginning of October.

For those of us who didn't convert the Dividend card, check your "Special Offers" online - Citi has a 5% cashback for 3 months on department store, apparel store and electronics store purchases but you must sign up online.

Got the new card a while ago. Apparently they sent me something in the mail about it...but i must have missed it among the piles of junkmail i get. I'm not exactly sure what the difference between the two cards is though. Kinda freaked me out because I saw all these transfers on my new statement...didnt' even realize they switched cards.

Despite what you guys say, I think I am going to cancel this card today.

I have no balance and have only been a member since 2006...actually since just this month if you consider this card as a new account.

I just have no use for it anymore.

Got all ours changed like 3 months back - don't see any benefit really... I might go back to Discover for their store/restaurant rewards... (but then I've been saying that for months now).

Mine is Citi Dividend something....just got it. rate is not great, but I won't be using this card for balances (14.99).

2% cash back at supermarkets, convenience stores, utilities, and gas. 1% on everything else inc. cash advances. 5% on balance transfers over $1500.

Do you have any sort of link about it? I never got notification or a change on my card and I can't find a specific World card.

Are you sure that's right? Never heard of any card giving a % rebate on a BT. That would be an magma-hot deal.

Exact same thing happened to me just yesterday. The new card had the 'world' label on it with a NEW account number.

I was too lazy to read anything. It seems like NOTHING changed. It's still 2% gas/groceries/something and 1% for everything else right?

I miss the 5% days.

I don't care for much because I have a Chase Biz card that gives me 3% back on Dining out + DRINKING, Office Supplies, Gas, Hotels and one more and 1% on everything else.

Being a bachelor, 3% cashback on dining out and drinking gives me far more cash back than 2% on Citi.

Yea that HAS to be wrong 100%. BTs give you 3% PENALTY. There used to be a $50-$150 fee cap but even that's removed with the recent bad market.

No way they give YOU money. I'll be happy with paying nothing on BT to begin with.

Yeah everything is pretty much the same. Only plus are some benefits when traveling...which 90% of the population will never use. I think they made the switch since merchants pay a higher fee due to it being a world card. I may switch over to the Chase Freedom card...1% on everything and 3% on groceries and gas. The whole "upgrading" cards by Citi is just shady.

I got a mailing for a Chase Professional card that had some nice benefits. This FW thread talks about it: http://www.fatwallet.com/forum...tid=52&threadid=630246

For those that received their card, did it say anything about a spending limit increase? Mine says it has no spending limit so long as I pay it off.

No pre-set spending limit. Generally cards like that will let you exceed your "official" credit limit by an modest amount they won't disclose (useful, huh?). When your statement cuts, you must pay the entire amount over your "official" credit limit plus the minimum payment.

Some people have had success getting an idea what their mystery limit is by calling asking "If I make a purchase today for $X, will it be approved?" where $X is some amount over the official CL.

my divident has a 5.99% rate so it's my main card until the rewards run out. I cant find anything good nowadays anymore with rewards.

I don't care about the interest rates as I payoff the balance every period. I stopped using Citi Platinum ever since they lowered cash back to 2%. Chase Freedom is my main card; if you save up $200, they give you $250.

It's 5 dividend dollars for the BT, 1% for cash advances at the standard rate.

Hey can someone help me out here?

I came home 3 weeks ago to get my new Citi Dividend Platinum card because it expired end of October.

Today I come back for Thanksgiving break to find me a Divided World card.

Does this mean I declined or accepted it? When I log into citicards.com I see both my Dividend Platinum and my Dividend world card... What does this mean?
