CISSP Vs. SCNP

Im about to enter the field of Network and OS Security.
Im planning to prepare myself for a Security certificate track.
After a little search I noticed two certificates that meet my aspiration: CISSP & SCNP.
the first one is more-restriction demanding. the latter is more vendor-oriented.
Which one should I consider?
And is it true that CISSP requires you to prove 3-4 years of experiance in the IT Securtiy industry before you set for the exam?

CISSP is the way to go and you aren't ready for it yet. You won't even come CLOSE to passing it if you don't have those 3-4 years under your belt in a Prof. environment. GIAC is considered top notch in security as well.
Check out SANS.
