SAN JOSE, Calif. - March 8, 2010 - Cisco will host a live media, blogger and industry analyst webcast Tuesday, March 9, at 8:00 a.m. (PST) to make a significant announcement that will forever change the Internet and its impact on consumers, businesses and governments.

Guess we have about 45 minutes till we find out. They have links to watch it here:

The Cisco Funding Bill is passed. The system goes on-line January 9th, 2010. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Cisco routers begin to learn at a geometric rate. They become self-aware at 5:00a.m. Eastern time, March 9th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug.

/me waits patiently for his phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range.

I've always had a feeling that the internet would turn into separated clouds/bubbles... whatever you want to call them. If you want social networking, you pay and subscribe to a social networking 'bubble' to get facebook, myspace.. etc. You want video and audio media, you subscribe to that bubble for unlimited music and video downloads. .... etc

Just a random thought..

They will probably unveil some new routers/algorithms that will allow efficient deep packet inspection at the behest of the government/MAFIAA.

I wish I was wrong, but I'm probably right.
