Cisco 831 & Netgear MR314 question (spidey?)

I just ordered an 831. I already have the MR314.

I'd like to keep using the MR314 as a wireless access point.

Near as I can tell from the pictures, the 831 has a WAN, Console and AUX port, all RJ-45.

I have verizon DSL which uses PPPoE.

I know that I can use the AUX port as a DDR port.

What I'm wondering is this:

Can I do an encap ppp on the AUX port and set the 831 up to provide an IP addr to my MR314 to in effect, fool the MR314 into thinking it's still talking to a DSL modem?

Failing that, can I configure the WAN port on the 831 for ethernet and have the connection be MODEM>MR314>831 so that the built in switch on my 314 essentially becomes a DMZ?

sounds doable to me...I'm not familiar with the 800 series routers but if they're running real IOS then you should have all normal features availible to you (using AUX port as a PPP connection or DDR with a modem, PPoE, etc).

How about using the 831 as your router and just using the 314 as a wireless AP? Disabling the router, NAT and DHCP functions should just turn it into a access point.

Yeah, it's a full IOS on the 831. It's their flagship SOHO router, for people who don't quite need a 17/25/26.

On your suggestion:

I thought it might be cool to have a two-router network, the same way dual carbs on a hotrod are cool even though a single 4-barrel is just as efficient.

On a more practical note, were you thinking in terms of using just the switch ports on the MR314, with a single cable connecting a switch port on each router, or; were you thinking in terms of using the WAN uplink port on the MR314 to go to a switch port on the 831?
