Cisco 4006 Catalyst Switch Problem

For some reason the console port seems to have died on the switch indicated in the subject-line of this post. There are 2 such switches that I have access to and they were working alright, but now nothing. The console ports on the router module are operational. The one thing I do get from one is the following message:

"Sending RARP request with address 00:07:0e:fb:ad:ff
Sending DHCP packet with address: 00:07:0e:fb:ad:ff"

With respect to the other switch there is absolutely no output on Hyperterminal. The console cable I have is working alright as I tested it not only with another switch but also a cable tester, and the indicator lights on the switch are all green. I am wondering if there is a way of connecting to the supervisor module through the router module. I know that when connected to the latter one can access the former with the session 2 command.
If anyone has some ideas on what the problem can be then do post it. TIA.

reset the supervisor if you can and see if you get the boot messages, otherwise try all kinds of different baud rates from 9.6 to 38.4.

Also try another terminal program, hyperterminal is very flaky.

I have tried resetting the switch repeatedly and there is no output displayed on Hyperterminal. Trying the different baud rates is something worth considering. I am not sure about being able to use another terminal program - are there any around that do not require being installed? Is there of checking whether or not the actual port is physically dead - although I don't see how that could have happened from simply plugging in and removing a console cable?

are you sure you're plugging into the console port and not a 10 Base-T management port?

You could always call Cisco and make them deal with it.

These switches were donated by Cisco. I don't think they are going to be offering any tech support on them. And yes I am sure that I am plugged into the Console port.

I managed to get the switch that was producing the error message up and running but having no luck with the other that seems all but dead, in terms of getting output to Hyperterminal. All indicator lights are Green. Any further suggestions?
