Cisco 3640 / Wic T1 Problem

Hello Everyone,

The problem that I seem to be experiencing is that with my Cisco 3640 (IOS 12.3) I can't seem to bring up my Wic T1 interfaces. I can bring up the fast ethernet but not that. I've also tested the Wic 1T's in a 2610 router with my T1 Connection and all of those variables seem to work. Any ideas?

what do you mean you can't bring them up?

Do you get up/up or up/down? what protocol is it running - HDLC, frame, PPP, etc?
 
Is this for Lab or Production?

Are you connecting to a real T1 (or something that looks like a T1), or with a crossover cable (1&2 --> 4&5) to another router?

I'm asking because if you are connecting back-to-back, one of the routers must be set to be a DCE and provide clock (intf-type DCE, clock rate xxxx).

If you are attached to a real T1, but it's fractional (<1.544), you need to go to the serial interface and issue one or more "Service-Module" commands to define the channel group.

Also if it's a real T1, verify Framing (usually ESF) and line code (usually B8ZS).

Is the interface Up/Down or Down / Down?
Are you getting clock?

Post the interface dump for that serial if you can.

I will work on the interface dump.

The interface is connected to a real T1. And what I should have said was that I can't get the interface to even be detected by the router. Those these interfaces are detected ok in another router. I've updated the IOS as well.
 
have thought the same. Sadly enough I've tried many different versions. Including 12.3(10) as well as Enterprise.

If these cards didn't work in a 2610 I'd be thinking dead cards but as that isn't the case I'm at a loss for what it could be...

can you do "show controller serial 1/1" or whatever the module/slot is?

Try "show controller t1 1/1" or whatever the module/slot is
 
What kind of netmod are you installing the WIC into?

The netmod is the larger module that fits into the slot/bay.

It should be something like 1E2W (which would be a 1 Ethernet, 2 WIC netmod).

You should also try pulling the netmod from the 2600 and trying it as a whole unit (netmod + WIC) in the 3600. You may have a flakey netmod, or one that is incompatible with with your WIC.
