This thread fails. How is this any different from a professor that endorses one view over another? You're b!tching for no reason.

Btw, every time I make a thread you come and throw your sh!tty opinion in it. One of the things I noticed during my ban was how stupid you really are. All your threads are going to have my sh!t stains in them.

And Texas A&M sucks. Go mine me some fail you fucking loser.

Your history, your attitude, and especially your bolded statement that you will continue to troll . . . all these together have earned you yet another month off (you just returned two days ago from a month off.)

Per our graduated vacation policy, you are actually getting off easy.

That's total BS, if it will hurt your grade in the class I'd take it up with the dean or assistant dean of your department.

Not only is that childish, it's also very unprofessional. I don't care if professors want to bring their opinions into the classroom, sometimes it can make things very fun and interesting, but it shouldn't affect a student's grade if they disagree on something.

Shut...your mouth.

He should know better. This is simply a method of soft restarting that everything supports Even your iPod has an equivalent (see your manual, it is something like press the power button and circle/square button in the bottom center and hold for 10 seconds)

For anything serious in the backoffice, *nix is pretty much untouchable, although Microsoft continues to make incremental improvements at every step. Server '08 is very very good, better than '03, which was excellent, which itself was a big leap from '00. So it goes.

But seriously, *nix is still king of the big stuff. The who's who of corps and govs running giant intranets and olympian databases are generally not running stuff from Redmond.

If it is decent sized, they don't run Unix either. They run AS400. And for the really big stuff, it's mainframe.

I audit this stuff all the time, and Unix can't compete with IBM products on the larger scales.

By the way, I love Windows. Beginning with Windows 2000, every MS OS I have used has been stable.

I was a Unix and Mac guy in college. Had an apple ibook based on OS X. I loved the laptop. I have an Associates Degree in Unix Administration on Solaris. But Windows is more compatible, stable, cheaper, and easier to find software for.

We had to write an ethics paper on the topic of our choice. I wrote about how closed source software can be a good thing - I did not say open source was bad, I discussed the advantages of closed source. It was all well researched, well written, and factual...he gave me a D for no real reason. I used a quote from Richard Stallman - that was in a paper we read for the class - he claimed Stallman didn't say it, even though I cited the paper we had to read!

Oh well, it was a useless class and I don't care about GPA, so I didn't bother fighting with him. I did kinda write the paper to push his buttons because I didn't like him, hahah.

Fuck that, I would have gone to the department if it really was written well.

How could they have time for all of this between helping people find their saved work that they forgot where they saved it?

Just because a company is large doesn't mean it runs AS400, that's specialized equipment to meet unique needs. Most companies are moving towards VMWare ESX and X86 based blade environments as the general scalable standard.

And once you get into virtualized operating system environments, nobody gives a shit whether it runs Windows, Linux or anything else. And any professor that sits there and mocks an OS for things that aren't even weaknesses is a tool.

That sounds like the douche I had for a Technical Writing class. Damn hippie grad student gave me a D on my paper on the weapons systems of the F4-E Phantom II because nowhere in the paper did I say anything about them killing people. :disgust:

Oh those people are funny. I worked at Lockheed Martin out of college - we had protesters all the time. My favorite sign said "Hiroshima never again - Stop Lockheed Martin!" Right...because Lockheed had something to do with that? And nevermind the fact that the location they were protesting makes GPS satellites. They must really hate their Garmin!

Well the Glenn L. Martin Company did assemble the Enola Gay so there is a valid, albeit lopsided. connection between Hiroshima and Lockheed-Martin.

LOL, is that really the best you can do about someone who dislikes MS?

I highly doubt he's a super-Mac guy anyway; most people who actually know anything about computers are Unix guys, and barely tolerate MS stuff at best. I'd frankly be really wary of a computer teacher who actually likes MS stuff, unless it's an MSCE class or something.

Pardon? MS does some brilliant stuff, and some crap stuff. Just like every other software developer. Certainly the vast majority of the It Dept at work are probably Windows guys and some of them are brilliant.
