no kidding, but you also mentioned avoiding skanky women like you could see an STD just by the way a person looks.Originally posted by: EatSpam

that was a naive statement. have you seen pictures of women with AIDS/herpes or any std? they don't necessarily look/act skanky.Originally posted by: EatSpam

Someone show me a link which says there are diseases that one can contract due to being uncircumized that are not easily treatable with modern medicine. Just saying "its cleaner" means nothing. In medieval times it could be argued that pulling teeth was a safer way to prevent mouth infections due to their poor dental hygene.
Easily treatable and bearable are two different things. A regular regimine of Zovirax/Valtrex can usually prevent a herpes episode , but do you want to experience the pain of one to know you have it or have a really bad break out up despite the medication?
SNIPPED and glad of it!
The way to avoid herpes isn't surgery. Its called avoiding the skanky women and wearing a rubber.
Hence the "wearing a rubber" portion of my statement.

For one, they never asked me if I wanted it chopped off. Two, now that I've started regrowing (1/3rd done), I have a lot better feeling and last a lot longer during sex. My wife is enjoying it a lot more, too. It seems I've been missing a lot the past ten years and I have my arrogant, shortsighted parents to blame.

:disgust: I get cold sores...
Boy this post is so old and outdated it should really be closed due to false statements and lack of current info. PREP is almost 100% effective, and to date there has never been a single person to contract HIV from someone already infected if they are on meds and have an undetectable viral load. And as for the content of the original post referring to circumcision as "protection", it should be very obvious that "hygiene" or lack there of is the only factor that could possibly have any relation to such theory. Think about the structure of foreskin... now think about the structure of a vagina. Basically the vagina is foreskin to the 100th power, except it is beyond the reach and lacks the ability of being thoroughly cleaned, unlike a foreskin, that can be retracted as if "circumcised" and cleaned every way imaginable. Some men just lack imagination, as do some women. And no, it it NOT a self-cleaning oven!Interesting read.
Male circumcision reduces the risk that men will contract HIV through intercourse with infected women by about 70 percent, according to a study reported in The Wall Street Journal.
After discovering the dramatic results, French and South African researchers halted the study about nine months in order to offer the uncircumcised men the opportunity to undergo the procedure, the newspaper reported.
The results of the study have not been published in a medical journal, although the French researcher who headed the team is expected to present them at an International AIDS Society conference in Brazil later this month.
The study was conducted on more than 3,000 HIV-negative South African men, ages 18 to 24. Half of the men were randomly selected to be circumcised while the other half remained uncircumcised.
After following the men for a year, the researchers found that for every 10 uncircumcised men in the study who became infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, only an estimated three circumcised men contracted the virus, the newspaper reported.
The study is considered significant because scientists have yet to discover an effective vaccine against the HIV virus or develop a reliable way to prevent infection other than through abstinence or safe-sex practices.
Previous studies have linked circumcision with increased HIV infection.
I don't know. Every time I want to get frisky, he shows up.I'll pass.

Circumcision to prevent HIV is like cutting off your leg to reduce the chance of dying of infection from a stubbed toe. The only reason it reduces HIV infection is because without the protection of the foreskin, the glans keratinizes, becoming impermeable, more akin to normal skin than to the mucus membrane that it is naturally - also reducing sensation BTW.
Having no foreskin greatly reduces sexual function and sensation, for a variety of reasons. There is no debate about this, it's well known amongst members of the community of foreskin restoration who cares about such things.
