What's the chance of them honoring the $60 rebate if I buy the product now, after they've already removed the rebate from the website? I have all the printouts of the website before they removed the rebate.

Thanks BostonYuk!

I CALLED the Ops Manager that would not give in yesterday, and told him that I had a copy of a reciept from a buddy in MA where they credited back the $60 + tax and would like him to do it as well. No argueing, he put it just back on my card. So I will have my $10 120gb.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about then.

Err, look who's talking. Every corporate retail manager I've worked with focuses on making the customer leave happy, NOT pissed off from getting screwed over, even if it means losing a few bucks. If you were even remotely clued in to the basic fundamentals of customer relations, you'd know that bad publicity travels many, many times farther than good publicity. Try getting back to me after you graduate high school.

Not at CompUSA. They screwed me once and I argued with the manager for 45 minutes. I haven't bought anything from them since.

Now you would be pushing it...but you could get lucky by simply saying well I printed out the rebate forms yesterday and decided to purchase today...it clearly states I purchased within the dates its offered....I dunno though? Good luck.

A good manager would be able to explain it in a way that legally covers your company's butt, protects your bottom line by not giving out CASH and at the same time not pissing the customer off but creating a more knowledgeable customer that understands the complexity of the issue and walks away content.

My credentials is not the point of this discussion. I could be in grade school for all you know.

After 3 trips to my Circuit City which is NOT in a convenient location, I gave up. The manager tried calling the rebate center last night but it was too late and nobody answered. Went during my lunch break today and he called and got the deal that it was a mistake and will not be honored. He said there was nothing he could do. I said he could give me $60 credit. He said he can't cause it wasn't a circuit city rebate. I said somebody should pay for the mistake no matter what, and it sure shouldn't be me. He said I should take it up with WD and said he wouldn't do anything for me even if they don't honor it. I had the rebate forms printed, printout of the site showing 3 rebates, and the confirmation email with 3 rebates.

I argured for like 20 minutes and was polite. I just tried to reason with him, but nothing worked. He basically tried to say I was screwed and he didn't care. I was out of time and had to go back to work so I gave up and said fine, I want a refund and I'll never set foot in Circuit City again. He said ok and walked off.

Now I didn't get mad or act rude until the very end. Circuit City lost a customer for good. I'll never walk in there again and I'm sure I won't miss it.

He wouldn't call the corporate office but said I could and that didn't do any good. This was in Montgomery, AL. I'm not suprised at the outcome. Stores around here don't care about customers......they just want $$$$. I practically quit buying ANYTHING in Montgomery since they are trying tax you for working in the city.

Oh well, I'll stop my rant now......lol. Sometimes I hate the south.

Every retail manager? You must have never been to Best Buy, Comp USA, Home Depot, Blockbuster, Frys, ..........ROFL.

I just got a call from CC Rebate Center (they did return my call).

Apparently the higher ups have agreed that it was their mistake and that the $60 will be honored one way or another (perhaps by CC, meaning a different address). Apparently the $80 and $10 rebates can be sent along. He said that he will call again Monday for details on the $60.

If this is the case then this is very good news, then there really is no change in the original deal (but he did allude to the fact that the drive must have been already purchased). So you can get this for just the tax, so that you folks who are doing the instant rebate through the store manager and such would have difficulties PMing to OM $150 price on Sunday.

Of course some managers may refuse the $10 PM as I'm sure they are aware of the large number or rebates.

Congrats to those that got in on this deal and only bought what they needed. :)

Kudos to those that get the extra $60 off. ;)

Screw those guys that keep calling and made CC change their rebate. :frown:

I HATE those people that bought out these drives everywhere around me (bay area) just so they could try and sell them at a profit-you guys suck big time! :disgust:

Just got off the phone with Mia(ext. 2511), she gave me a reference number and told me that the $60 rebate will be rewarded, but that I'll have to wait until monday before I can get the necessary information to get my rebate. Sounds like good news, though I wonder why I have to wait until monday...

The good part about waiting until Monday is that you can PM to OM on Sunday to get an extra $10 off....and then dance to the tune of '60 beans in my pocket' when the rebate center calls you back with the good news

Used 1ucid's info and mine from earlier. Called 800-the-city and spoke to beloved patriot (x3065). I said, "I understand you're now honoring the $60 rebate that you pulled from your website. Can I get a reference case ID # for my purchase on order #############?"

they said they're waiting to find out what forms will be used and how to process and then they'll contact me via phone.

Looking good!!

I took mine back. They insisted it would be honored and I said I don't want to wait 2 months to find out. They then offered to give me my money back.

I kept all my papers just in case they come up with something. It sucks. All this hassle for nothing.

Trust me i have a good feeling that it will be honored because lot of people got $60.00 + tax back. They have to honor it.

If I was a circuit city manager and this screw up occurred I would wiggle my way out of it to pointing to several fine points. Then after that I would call someone in the corporate offices and bitch them out.

Why? It's not you that's losing money. Your job is customer satisfaction, not screwing them over. Thank goodness you're NOT a manager because you'd last less than a week.

Yeah, customer service is one thing a manager is supposed to do, but when he's going up for review, they're not looking to see how many customers he made happy, they're looking to see how much money the store made. If he's making people happy by giving them anything they want, then his sales will be lower than they could have been. i'm not saying that customer sat isn't important, but its not on the top of the list like stores advertise.

For those that have not receive their $60 rebate, use the drive for let's
say 25 days and return it for a full refund. CC will get the picture quickly. We would see a ton of drives on clearance.

Which one is the UPC need to be mailed back? Is it the one above the model number?

How come my model # starts as WMA8Cxxxxxxx, is that a 8 or a B?

Thanks.

It's said it's a 8M cache HD. Will fight for the $60 rebate. :) Called CC center about 3pm Eastern Time, still no solution yet. Hope they can reach a reasonable one...

Have you read the thread lately? CC is going to honor the $60 rebate. Also Return policy for computer stuff is 14 days.

This is for all those who have questions about their drive and don't want to open the package yet. Go to www.westerndigital.com and look up the warranty on your drive by the serial number on the bottom of the box.

Do we have to go to store for the $60 credit? Can they just refund to my credit card, as they have all the information. It's not convenient to the store. Is it possible to another store than the one I picked up the HD?

Thanks,
