Circuit City - WD 120GB for $10 AR ?!

I called the WD rebate center, and was told that there was a mixup between CC and WD, and CC ended up having to fulfill many of the rebates. In my case, the WD person said that both my rebates were being handled by CC, which CC confirmed. The CC rep told me that my check (along with almost all of the others) would be mailed out in 2-3 weeks. 😕

I just got a rejection letter today, they said I didn't include the rebate forms. I know I did, along with letters explaining that I made the purchase on the 24th and the original UPC code was with the $80 rebate.

Of course I have copies of everything so I think I will resend them to the VP of client services. this time.

god damn, another one called. what's wrong with you. if you don't have faith on the deal, don't go for it. let other brave souls get in on the deal.

DON'T GET IT IF YOU DON'T HAVE FAITH, AND PLEASE STOP CALLING!!!

and yes, you sould be sorry because you are killing the deal by calling (mchurchm)

I have been a www.dvdtalk.com (Hot Deals forum) since 1999. I just recently discovered this site and love it! I joined to get deals and post deals when I see them.

There is certainly a lot more 'attacks' in this forum, such as yours above. Calling a rebate center has absolutely NOTHING to do with this deal being killed or a basis for honoring/not honoring a rebate. Are you serious???

As for the rebate situation. CC can simply say they offered a choice of rebates. They are not obligated to honor both. So the question is, is the drive worth $76 after tax and an 8 week rebate hassle. Not to me. I will call CC and ask them to deduct $60 from the price. It can't hurt.

Having said that. It is great to be here. And I hope to be a long time contributing member.

There have been deals in the past...a few...not many...which ended after a phone call so it's become something of a superstition here not to call or you "jinx" the deal. This deal is a ymmv anyway except in my case I will get the deal, even if it comes to a cc dispute.
Welcome, and feel free to rag the raggers anytime.

I took mine back. They insisted it would be honored and I said I don't want to wait 2 months to find out. They then offered to give me my money back.

I kept all my papers just in case they come up with something. It sucks. All this hassle for nothing.

Trust me i have a good feeling that it will be honored because lot of people got $60.00 + tax back. They have to honor it.

If I was a circuit city manager and this screw up occurred I would wiggle my way out of it to pointing to several fine points. Then after that I would call someone in the corporate offices and bitch them out.

Why? It's not you that's losing money. Your job is customer satisfaction, not screwing them over. Thank goodness you're NOT a manager because you'd last less than a week.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about then.

are you retarded?
lol

PM'd in store for the $60 off earlier.

Word. Got my $60 price adjustment at the store. $10 MIR came quick, the $80 I received probably two weeks ago now. All is good. 😀

I called the number on the letter. I talked with a CC rep, she said they took over the rebates from WD for this since they screwed it up.

She saw I already got my $10 rebate and said my $80 was being processed. I asked about my $60, she said according to the letter that they sent me, they did not recieve my rebate form, I asked her how they got my addtess and phone number then, she replied "good point we obviously got your form then", she then said she would send the information to her supevisor and start processing the $60 rebate

Their site still only shows a status for the $10 rebate though

I have now been told "it'll go out in 2 weeks" three times. Needless to say, I'm very angry about CC now, and will probably think twice before buying stuff there again. :|

They said that there was a mixup, and due to the high volume, they could do no better than to tell me to sit tight and wait a while longer.

Got my $60 instantly at the store, $10 rebate long ago, and $80 rebate yesterday. Sure it would have been nice if it had come sooner, but in the end this deal was certainly worth the wait.

Has anyone who did not get the $60 instantly gotten their $60 rebate yet? Since I got mine instantly I did not have to send in for it and worry, but I am curious.

Edit: OK, I read through the thread more carefully and see that some people have reported getting the $60 in the mail, while others are very frustrated. My curiosity has been satisfied.🙂

I haven't received either the $60 or $80 yet. This BS has gone on long enough - I'm planning to write to the president/CEO of CircuitSh!tty & tell him what's going on...plus send copies to the IN Attorney General's office, maybe the local newspaper, Better Business Bureau, and anybody else I can think of...

I'll do the same if you PM or post the email or snail mail addresses of the head honchos at CC...

Don't know about Circuit City, but I remember it took forever for me to get my rebate for my retail box Western Digital SE 100 GB drive. I think it took over 14 weeks. Be patient. At these prices, CC or the company at "Young America, MN" probably can't hire many people to handle all the paperwork. Try calling them and asking where your rebate is. When I called, I told them I lived only 20 minutes away from WD and if they didn't give me my rebate I would show up at WD demanding my rebate. I don't know if that actually caused anything, but I did get my rebate within a week. LOL

I, for one, have been patient, and am more than wlling to wait longer if they'd give me a straight answer. They have now told me "2 weeks" three times now, for a total of 6 weeks. If they had told me 6 weeks to begin with, or even 14, I'd be fine with that. Even now, a supervisor couldn't tell me anything more than "just wait two more weeks." It's been well more than the 6-8 weeks they specified. I understand that this is a unique situation, but it was their screw-up, and the customer should not be made to wait because of their mistake. 🙁

Ugh!

Exactly how long has everyone here been waiting for their rebates? If it's less than 13 weeks, wait until at least 13 weeks pass before firing off your complaint letters.

Ugh!

As far as I remember, the rebates specified waiting 6-8 weeks. My problem with them is that some people have received their rebates while many others haven't, along with the continuing excuses of the "mix-up" and "2 more weeks."

Hi to my favorite group
your going to love this one. called wd rebate center (third time in 6 weeks) and rob explained that the checks ($140) were mailed 8/11/03 and that if I did not receive them within 40 days please call back. What's up with the 40 days? I think they are stalling. Has any one else had such a stupid statement made to them? I will be calling back in one week if no checks, and talking to a supervisor. Sounds like to old lie " check is in the mail" bull shxt to me.

Don't worry, check is coming. I got my $80 and $60 rebate in one big check $140 yesterday. So they are sending check now!

I called the CC rebate center approx 2 weeks ago and they had not received the forms from WD.I faxed them over forthwith. I called 2 days ago and a check had been cut in the amount of $140 and was to be mailed shortly. Yesterday I received 2 checks. 1 for $60 and 1 for $80...
from Western Digital! Ya think I might end up with 2 rebates...ho ho ho
