Circuit City or Best Buy?

Which store would you buy something from if the prices were the same...?

Best Buy. Damned if I'll let some clueless thug get commission from my purchase. Plus I've had better experience with BB's customer service.

Yea, but dosent Best Buy charge a 15% restocking fee while CC dosent?

BB. Waaaaaaaaay more selection, and I don't have a commission shark eyeing me over like a piece of dead fish.

I dont think anyone gets commission if i buy it online with express in-store pickup.... I already know what i want...

The CC's around here are pretty shady...and the whole comission thing bothers me...it's like they're arguing who gets to help you right until you walk into the store, then they latch on and you can't get rid of them, no matter what dept. you walk into.

Best Buy lets you play with everything in the store, and their sales people don't work on comission.

I guess if you know what you want and you're gonna order it for in-store pickup, it doesn't really matter, unless you think there's a chance you'll return it. I'm pretty sure BB takes a percentage for a returns of working merchandise. Best to check their website tho.

out of the 3 BBs here in town, 2 are closer than the only CC here in town(that i know of). so as far as driving location is concerned, BB.

as for selection, i have to agree on what the other guy(s) said above...BB has the selection.

so i cant help but say BB. besides, i know their return policy and PMing policy. cant say the same for CC and even frys.

From what im seeing, BB charges 15% and CC dosent charge anything...

I think ill go make the purchase instore and make someones day 😀

The 15% restocking fee applies to computers, laptops, digital cameras and camcorders, and GPS units, and those have a 14 day return policy. Everything else is 30 day with no restocking fee.

I am forgetting one or two things maybe on the restocking fee but it is not everything in the store.

I just asked a friend (who's brother works at CC) and he said someone ALWAYS gets a commission, regardless if they helped you or not. He wasn't sure about express pickup

I currently work for the Best Buy corporation, so I obviously shop there more because I get a discount. But once I quit I will never shop there again, Best Buy is evil, evil, evil.

In Braintree, MA there is a CC and BB literally next door to each other. Really handy for comparison shopping. In most cases BB is better. Several years ago CC was a good company, but I believe they were bought out and it really sucks now compared to then.

Price is the deciding factor for me, and I've rarely found an in store price that I couldn't beat on the net except for specials/rebates.

Honestly, I hate both of them, and when one has a great deal on something, I'll go to the other store & collect on the 110% pricematch @ the higher store.

Best Buy is irritating to me because of the lack of knowledge of their products & the long lines @ the service counter, C C is irritating cuz I can't think with a vulture hovering over me.

I've bought most of my appliances & big screen @ Sears, got ~$600 off my 61" Sony, free delivery & setup because I caught the right salesperson @ the right time with a quasi-legit price-match off the net, just bought a washer/dryer on sale the first week around $1200 with free delivery, went back the next week, & had them take 10% off because they had a Sears card promotion, then went back the next week & they made the entire purchase interest free for a year. (none of the promotions during week 2 & 3 had the washer/dryer as cheap as they were when they were on sale during the first week.) Best Buy had the models that Sears had rebranded for about 5% more. Try that kind of thing @ Best Buy/CC, & they'll throw you out of the store or arrest you...

The Sears I use is in a marginal part of town, so they have a lot of returned merchandise, I picked up a returned 5 burner smooth-top cooktop for $400, not a scratch on it, retailed for $785.

oh i get it, this is one of those lesser of two evils type things.... sort of like our last presidential election? 😉
