This sucks. CC is the only electronics store within a 60 mile radius. I didn't buy a ton of stuff there, but it was nice to browse around and pick up random deals.

i went to a Circuit City today. the employees were surprised, they said they heard about the shutdown same as us, today.

as far as the normal question, "OK, when is the Big Sale ?", they didn't have an answer.

i would think, sometime in the next week ?

This. With an extra 30k potential applicants added into this field, even those still left at other retailers/electronic outlets should be feeling the pinch in terms of job security. Anyone remember what CC did to its highest-paid salesmen a while back? I see this happening on a wider scale...

Sales start in some cases today, or rather liquidation. In reality, they are hving liquidaters come in who are experienced in maximizing the money before a close date, so I think it's very naive now to expect big discounts on top-sellers; they simply won't restock them. There is a CC open by my house at 10:00 but I'm probably not going to bother showing up. THe only thing I want is a 30" LCD for a second room and I am guessing they move fast enough, especially with customers in the door looking for sales, that they won't have any good deals on them. It's not like liquidators just want to move anything as fast as possible; they do want to maximize what they can get.

Why shop at cc when you can go to hhgregg and get a 60" lcd 1080p tv for $1100? I had pretty much stopped shopping at cc and only went when they had a sale on something I truly needed. Their cs pretty much sucked at the stores here in town and we had 3 of them. BB has been expanding and they just built a new store in a new shopping center down the street from me. I prefer bb to cc any day of the week and I like hhgregg better than either of them.

I went to the CC in Danvers, MA. At first I felt sorry for them, but then I was reminded of why they are going out of business. They sell crap, overcharge for it, and there is no help in the store to allow you to buy the overpriced crap. Shocked they are closing? I'm not.

Still, that means that only Best Buy is left in this area. Not good. When is this slide going to stop and start getting better?
