Circuit City liquidating remaining stores

StageLeft

Unfortunately I imagine their out of business sales will suck, like 10% off merchandise and then in the final days 40% off printer extension cords 🙁

Yeah, the one by my place shut down right after black friday. Their final deals were OK on big ticket items (80% off) but for stuff like printers, monitors, memory, etc werent really any better than new egg et al.

RIP.

My local store closed down at about the same time. I was in the store several times during the liquidation (final time being as they were physically taking down the shelves), and never really saw any great deals.

There are plenty of other outlets. Circuit city hasnt been competitive for years.

They don't sell cars and they aren't a bank/financial company. Those are the only two industries that matter in this economy, you know?

Everyone saw this one coming.... still sucks though, yet another blow for the economy.

For me personally, I'm waiting on a rebate from them for a purchase on black friday, I guess I can kiss that one goodbye.

Amazon, Costco. I am not surprised this happened. Last year I was in the market for a new Video Recorder. I did my research I wanted one of those Video Recorders that recorded directly to a internal Hard Disk so I wouldn't have to mess with tapes, disks etc. I then could export media directly to my Computer and then do with the videos as I pleased. I originally went to CC since I usually am fairly happy with them. They had the video camera that I wanted on display but no power cord. Both the wife and I wanted to check out the features etc. before we bought and see how it worked. Well you can't do that if the Camera has no power. I went down the street to Best Buy and they had one on display with power, checked it out and was very happy with and Best Buy got my business. I am not surprised they are going under.

Whats funny is they were and they were. Carmax to sell cars and FNANB for a financial company.

Too bad Blockbuster didn't go through with buying them out back in June, could of potentially taken out two terrible companies.

Sorry, should have said: they don't build cars. AFAIK individual auto dealers didn't get any bailouts, just the auto manufacturers.

Did FNAB get a bailout? If so that could have been used to salvage CC.
