Circuit City - HP Computer Purchase - $100 off!

Wow, I have to say that the management at the Circuit City is a lot better than I remember.

I took my Mom over to Circuit City today to buy a computer. I told her she should get the $599 HP Computer because the price was good, it was fast and powerful, and a whole lot better than her current 3 year old E-Machine.

She didn't want to wait two weeks for Dell to deliver a computer, I didn't want to build one, and she needs to replace that POS E-Machine. 😉

BTW, anyone want to buy a 500MHz E-Machine? It *sorta* works. 😀

Anyway, Circuit City was out of the $599 HP machines. The manager was helping us (I just happened to catch him by chance, wasn't looking for him specificly) and he checked all the other stores in the Dallas area and none have it. He then suggested the $749 HP machine and offered to sell it for $100 off the normal price (or $649).

Wow, that's a good deal! That machine has twice the RAM (512MB vs. 256MB), more hard drive space (80GB vs. 60GB) and a seperate DVD-ROM drive and CD-RW drive (the $599 box has a combo drive). It also has built in fire-wire (the $599 doesn't) and a few other things I might have missed.

Anyway, needless to say we got the $749 box for $649. 🙂

What really sucks is that it has a 2GHz AMD Athlon XP CPU in it (2400+, actually 2.0GHz). This is 20% faster than my own machine which is just a 1600+ (1.4GHz). That is sick, my Mom has a faster computer than I do. Bleah!!!!

That's it, that's all I had to say. 😀

Yea, I know, but I don't wanna build a computer. 🙂

For what she needs, this one will work just fine.

When I finally replace my own desktop (which I'm no longer going to upgrade every 6 months), I'll just order a Dell. 🙂

I've built and trouble shot enough computers in my day.

Bahh, I get to do tech support either way, but this way I don't have to build a computer.

Besides, it wouldn't have saved any money really, a system I'd build would cost about $650 as it is.

Wow, that is a good deal.

Hey, don't feel bad about the system...it probably has integrated ProSavage video 😛

Hopper you're a good son, you made sure you mom's rig is better than yours! That's love! 😀

LOL! Probably...

My Mom wouldn't play a game if you paid her, she uses the Internet, Word, Publisher, and accesses her computer at work.

It's nice to hear someone praising CC, cuz I've never had any problem w/ them. Good service, good stuff. Unlike the other thread.

🙂

I give credit where credit is due. I haven't personally shopped in there for years, was very impressed with the quality of their service and how friendly their staff was.
