Clearly its a bigger deal than you're making it sound to us, otherwise you wouldn't be making such a big stink about it.

weirdichi, he's not pulling a rossman. rossman finds real, legal deals, this is technically illegal on his friend's part.

frofan, they changed the discount as a cost-cutting method. They calculate how much money is 'lost' through the discount, if it were used honsetly by all employees, that figure would be much smaller, and they would be less apt to adjust it.

btw, the CC discount used to be incredible, for those of you who think its 'crap'. I got my speakers for $430, they retail for $1000. Just this past summer I got my 51" Sony for $1300, retails for $1899. USB cables used to come down to like $2 from $25.

like popper said, like i said, it doesn't matter what the discount is for us, it can very likely be different for your friend, so asking us is frivolous.

You are right that it is technically illegal. It's the same as his friend buying stuff for cheap with his discount and then selling it for profit. But don't they have to have a clause or statement saying it's illegal? It might be a law depending on state.

On the other hand, I don't see anything wrong if he buys it for his friend as is with no profit. This is assuming it's a one time deal or once in a long while. Morally it could be called illegal; technically, I think it'd be ok.
