You're friend should save you about 60%. I worked at Best Buy for a year, and the discount there is also 5% above cost. things like stands have incredibly high markup, so i'll bet you'll end up paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 for that.

when I worked there everything was cost... things have changed, I think it is 5% above now. Have your friend pull up an info page on that product and he can tell you the margin and that will tell you cost

Thanks! That would be awesome if its that low. Hopefully CC is as good as BB.

You won't be able to find an online store cheaper than CC. Shipping for a 75 lb stand is crazy!

It would be great if some one that actually works at CC could get me the exact price on this.

our most popular stand sells for $349. Its the matching stand to the Sony 50" LCD projection TV. Sony makes stands for each model of their TV's. They look really nice because they follow the lines of the TV. Their stands look like part of the TV.

Oh lord, did I just say something positive about Sony???

The discount at CC is not a flat 5% above.... It varies.... Supposedly we get things at cost + shipping overhead, but im not positive thats where they actually get their numbers from because some of the prices skyrocketed from where they used to be. I.E. paper & cables.

I work there, but 1) its not that easy to get discount, a manager has to find it 2) you aren't allowed to use your discount for friends, its because of people like you that the discount isn't as good as it used to be(its more than 5% higher than it used to be).

Is there anyway one of you guys that works there could get the price for this. It would be greatly appreciated. The kid says he only gets a 10% discount from retail price, so I just want to know how much he is marking it up on me.

I highly doubt CC gave employees less of a discount because they are purchasing too much. Your still paying atleast 5% over their cost, so they are making money on the sale. They just aren't making as much as they normally do.

Why don't you just shut the fvck up and accept whatever price he is giving you? Its his goddamn discount, he risks his job by getting you something, so shut the fvck up and accept it. On some stuff the discount is LESS than 10%. CC lessened the discount back in like, December or so. We used to get store cost, now we got some amount(we don't know the exact #), above store cost. Why? To save money. What is a way a company can lose money? By employees miusing the discount. Therefore, pricks like you ARE driving up the discount.

btw, me looking up what I would get that item for would be worthless to you. the amount above cost the discount is is set by the district manager, it is not corporate wide, so SHUT UP already.

Yeesh! He just wants to pull a Rossman, nothing wrong with that. I find myself coming here less and less because of bad mouthing like that. Go stand at the corner of the street and yell at all the bad drivers since they are driving up everybody's insurance rates. -_-

As for the discount, I believe CC employees get crap discounts. My friend works there and he said don't even bother. I know that Best Buy employees get 5% above cost.

Exactly what I was thinking!

In no way am I complaining. I simply want to know if and how much he is marking it up for his personal profit. If you think that CC marks up the employee cost because they are buying too many things, then you are stupid! If you pay 5% over cost, then they are making money on it still, so they would want you to buy more things! They are against you using the discount for friends because they would rather the friend come in and pay full price so they get more damn money. They are raising employee cost because they are greedy, not because they are loosing money on sales to employees!

your "friend" is still risking his job and you're still getting it cheaper then normal. I don't see why he shouldn't make some money off of you, since he's helping you out regardless. What are you going to do if you find out he's charging you more then what he gets it for?

Anyways, Deeko already gave you an acceptable answer in his last two sentences. Accept it and move on

I guess my reasoning wasn't clear. I already plan on tossing him some change for his efforts, its just for my own knowledge.
