I have just called cingular customer service and upgrade my plan. for 39.99 dollars per month, no contract(for ppl who is not on the contract anymore). They give me
450 minutes +150 more bonus minute (Peak)
3500 nite and weekend (9pm to 7 am)
Free Long Distant
and I get a new phone number without paying the 36 dollars service fee.
This is no contract . it is a month to month thing. (two nites ago, jay leno point out a typo from cell phone company "mouth to mouth" :) )
Hope this one help some of u guys. well, without unlimited Mobile to Mobile is kind of sux, but this plan is the best for me now.
Alex
Oh, I am located in the North Cal.
I have 600 total peak minutes
3500 nite and weekend
Free Long Distant
by the way, do I get a new number for voice mail? or still using my own cell phone number?

are you sure?

what I understand is when you upgrade your plan to higher price one which is the old plan when you open the line, you don't need to renew the contract. However, if you upgrade to a current new plan, you have to renew the contract for 1 year.

even hotter is what I like to do on weekends or weeks when I'm out of town. :D

just call Customer Service and ask them to upgrade your plan to NationWide so that U don't get RoamingFees when U R out of town. Then, when U get back, call 'em back and put it back where it was. @ the end of the month they'll proRate the nationwide plan that you had for the weekend. It works GREAT. I do it almost every other week! what's REALLY nice about it is how easily they do it OVER THE FONE!

HOWEVER, make sure to ck. your bill when U get it @ the beginning of the month.

Just an idea that I really hope is helpful for some of you! :)

God Bless

dentalboy, this is of course legit.

let's say when you open the line, you can choose $20 for 20 min, $30 for 150 min, $40 for 300min.
you picked $30 plan.

now it's $20 for 20min, $30 for 300min, $40 for 450min.

if you upgrade to $40 for 300min plan, you don't need to renew the contract.
but if you upgrade to $40 for 450min plan, your need to renew 1 yr.

one thing for sure, you cannot downgrade to $20 plan.

so is that 450+150 = 600 minutes peak?

im guessing 450 total meaning 300+150...

450 minutes +150 more bonus minute (Peak)

Sounds pretty good but do you know if this works if you already have the 40 dollar plan? My contract is up this month and I moved so I never paid the 36 bux for a new number, this would be sweet for me since my number is still so cal and I'm in nor cal now. Also month 2 month would be nice.

i used to work for voicestream. bonus min only last till you use them, so if you use all your bonus min the first month.. then you have no more... but then again cingular might be different. yes you can get reps to pro-rate your plans but, milage may vary.....

you can totally do this. my contract expired in january. i called in february to cancel because i had gone over yet again and was pretty fed up with cingular (poor service in the bay area). not only did the CSR change my plan to a new plan, she took off what i had gone over (almost 50 bucks), let me stay on month to month, and gave me a 5 dollar discount on that one bill. i called in two weeks later to ask if i could have text messaging because my old plan had unlimited, and so they gave me the $9.99 plan for free for two months. two weeks after that i called in and asked them if they could lower my bill or do something because i was/am seriously considering changing out to a service that gives better coverage (Att or Verizon in the bay area). they gave me 150 bonus minutes every month until i cancel the contract.

my bill: $29.99 + $9.99 (1000 mobile to mobile minutes)

450 minutes a month (300 + 150 mins)
3500 nights and weekends
1000 m2m (i use this)
500 text messages
Nationwide LD

anyway ... i started a thread about this about a week ago ...

cingular is really good about these things...

they did something like this with me.... I had the 300/unlimitted plan...

no matter how hard I tried I'd always run over the 300 mins by like 100-180 mins... and the additional minutes are $0.40 each... which was VERY costly. anyways... last month I thought I'd been pretty conservative in my peak usage... but I called to check anways... and i'd run 155 minutes over.

the rep heard my moans and groans and suggested a new plan... instead of paying $39.00 he upped me to $49.00 which gave me 650 peak and 3500 off peak (the unlimited is really overrated... at most I used 1800 OP minutes) and to help me ofset the OP time change (went from 8pm to 9pm) he said he'd give me 150 bonus peak minutes...

so now I have 800 peak minutes and 3500 OP minutes for $49.99

Seems like things may be different in Cal... (in Michigan). I've been able to upgrade or downgrade whenever I want, no fee. I always call to see if there are any new plans that fit me better, and decide from there. Currently on the Home 400 @ $39....
BTW did you know that if your bank is a credit union then you qualify for a 15% discount.... I just found this out last night when talking with Customer Service...
Just my 2 cents :D

i called them today, and ended up sticking with my current plan, since i plan to switch to at&T soon anyway. but this is what i USED to have, 300/Unlimited NW, ld, txt messaging, nights at 8 pm. my contract ended in feb and i figured hell while i am still with them waiting on a deal i might as well call in. but she said i can get 450+150, 3500 NW for the same price. she siad there was no way to keep my unlimited NW if i switch and on top of that, there was no way to keep nights starting at 8. and she also said that if i want to keep my txt messaging i have to go on contract for another year. no thanks!

i will stick with this until i can figure out how to get one of those AT&t deals as a new customer from the other thread.

i decided to give this a try yesterday as well, even though i have 2 months left on my contract. i just told her i wanted to know when my contract was up because i would be cancelling. to keep me from doing that she gave me 600 pk 3500 nw free ld all for 39.95. she also said she gave me phone credit so if i dont cancel when my first year is up i get another phone of my choice for free and just pay tax on it. and to top it all off she gave me 250 bonus minutes for this month just so it could start immediately. i was impressed.
im in l.a. btw.

Okay, I just called 611... I've been off contract for about 6 months now, haven't really thought about changing plans, but reading this thread got me thinking. Before I had 120 anytime minutes + free long distance + unlimited mobile to mobile for $29.99. After calling and seeing current plans, I got them to change it to 300 peak minutes + 150 bonus peak minutes for 90 days + free long distance + 3500 night and weekend minutes + 2 months free text messaging. I lose unlimited mobile to mobile in that deal, BUT after complaining about that the CSR offered to take $10 off my bill for 6 months. So I'm now paying $19.99 for the above when I used to pay $29.99 when I was on contract. Also, they didn't lock me into another contract-- I am now on month to month. The csr said to call back after 6 months (when my $10 rebate runs out) to check to see if the new plans have free mobile to mobile on them. I think I got a pretty good deal.

I AM SO BITTER after reading this thread... f'ing cingular. i was SUPPOSED to get the current 29.99 plan...300/3500/LD, AND unlimited mtm for free (the rep was going to get it approved) but the manager still hadn't contacted me. i called in today, and all i got was 100 free text messages...how lame. im gonna call their asses again. this is pathetic.

im at ucla btw and those of you around there KNOW how BAD service is...can't wait for att gsm and vs.

edit: i am month to month since december btw and on the old 120/unlimited mtm/free ld plan...
