Cingular bought AT&T Wireless

As a long time Cingular (well, long time Houston Cellular) customer, I'm interested to see how this is going to pan out for the newly swollen Cingular Wireless. If this means a larger home network, especially for GSM subscribers, then that's a good thing. If this means that Cingular's already uncompetitive pricing is going to get worse, then that's a bad thing. If this means better phones available for Cingular subscribers (tri-band, quad-band, etc), then that's good too.

Either way... Interested to see what's going to happen in the medium and long run.

hmm ... in california, Tmobile uses Cingular towers....

Also, wherever Cingular has reception, ATT doesn't have reception...and vice versa....(comparing w/ me and my roommate's phone..we always switch off using each others' phone wherever we go)

so does this mean better reception for tmobile as well?

my roommate hates att, i hated cingular and i hate tmobile due to poor services...

i wonder what will happen now..

I knew about this before christmas ( my uncle worked for cingular). It means that att and cingular share the same towers, and probably some other stuff. Who cares as long as i get better reception and my payments dont go up.

I hope so, I just signed my sister up for a 2 year contract :disgust:

2 years? sucker.

they threw me a deal to good to pass up (it was my old plan and just passed it along to her) 200 anytime unlimited nights/weekend, free nationwide, all the usual stuff, 50 free text messages, a free phone (no rebate), for $30 a month. She just started college so I thought 2 years would be ok.

Here in Florida on the GSM network, ATT, Cingular and T-Mobile all use the same towers for the GSM network. I don't think this affect many people here, I just hope Cingular is going to have a better phone selection after this; this selection on phones SUCK.

That's a standard plan. You can get that deal from any store anywhere. BTW instruct her on not going over her minutes. I just paid $180 on my last AT&T bill 🙁

well seeing as I am an AT&T Wireless employee this is no big news to me...

but it will mean better services for the cutsomers...no doubt about that.

nope, the standard plan doesn't include unlimited nights and weekends, nor the 50 free texts msgs. The unlimited nights and weekends is what sealed the deal. Couldn't find that for $30 anywhere else.

i wonder what will happen to our current service plan. Probably will move the current AT&T customer to the Cingular's service plan.........or something like that

Cool, that means you can get crappy reception and dropped calls in more parts of the country now!

I dumped Cingular for AT&T Wireless, and then dumped AT&T for Verizon, glad I did.

As a currently happy cingular GSM customer, I don't know how this will affect me. Hopefully not in a bad way.

;teh concerned;

Yeah it does include the unlimited nights and weekends. My wife is on that plan herself.
