She was arrested for wearing a t-shirt. She offered to cover it up or remove it and was arrested instead. How ironic that dumbya referenced MLK, who used non-violent protest. Just some more hypocrisy from this jackass, and the subsequent lesser jackasses. Sig Heil.

No, it's not ironic. She knew the rules gong in and willingly chose to ignore them. She is not the only, nor the first person arrested for this, it occurs at every SOTU speech as well as others.

It was a grab for media attention pure and simple. This and the fact that she was on with Chauvez (Venz. dictator) and agreed, applauded and promised her support in his attempt to overthrow the US government has made me grow weary of her true motives.

OMG! Really? She wanted to draw attention to the needless deaths of 2200+ soldiers? What a media whore. Perhaps a public flogging would be the best route to limit this type of miscreant behavior. She was a guest of Lynn Woolsey, not just there because she won a ticket. I love CNN's take "Sheehan pestered the dumbya administration since August" (ok, I replaced bush with dumbya). Pestered. Awww, poor georgie, being pestered by a citizen who's speaking their voice, peacefully.
Maybe we can get dumbya some earplugs and blinders, oh wait, he's got those already. I feel so sorry for the apologists for dumbya. Keep goosestepping along to his music, I'm sure there's a spot in his military for his next excellent adventure into Iran.

Alright, you've moved past the point of having an intelligent conversation, completely ignoring the facts.

Fact: She wore a t-shirt.

Fact: Your President can't handle dissent.

Fact: She was not "disrupting" anybody.

As ironic as it is that 2/3 of these are your opinion ("I'd rather lose with truth than win with lies. "), you should try reading some stories on what actually happened before you start stating "facts".

Fact: There are certain rules in place to ensure that the speech is not disrupted.

Fact: She was told of these rules, and told not to violate them.

Fact: She violated these rules by either unfurling or planning to unfurl a banned in the chamber (again, some stories say she did, some don't metion it)

Fact: When asked to obey the rules, she refused.

Fact: When asked to leave the chamber, she refused, and became vocal.

Need I continue?

Sure. Break out your goosestep.

I'll assume from your response that you're conceding the point.

I feel sorry that you worship a President that is too much of a pussy to handle an unfriendly t-shirt in the gallery.

"I'd rather lose with truth than win with lies."

Perhaps you should consider removing this from your signature.

What's the matter? Did I strike a nerve? Wanna baba?

To the contrary, it seems to be the other way around. :)

I'm stating the obvious. Your President is a pussy and so are his followers.

A woman with a t-shirt that says "2245 dead. How many more?"....

Please, you people are such wusses.

Then I suppose Bill was a "pussy" as well as his "followers" when epople were removed for shirts and banners and disturbances during his speeches concerning stained dresses, etc.?
Man Wearing Anti-Clinton T-Shirt Removed from Senate Gallery at Impeachment Trial
Wed Feb 01 2006 08:47:08 ET

Cindy Sheehan, the anti-war activist who was removed from the House gallery last night before the State of the Union address for wearing a t-shirt with a political message, is not the first person to be tossed from a Congressional gallery at a high-profile event for wearing a political t-shirt.

In the early days of the Senate's impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton in January 1999, a Pennsylvania man named Dave Delp was removed by the Capitol police from the Senate gallery for wearing a t-shirt that said, "Clinton doesn't inhale, he sucks."

The Pennsylvania school teacher was yanked out of a VIP Senate gallery and briefly detained last week during the impeachment trial for wearing a T-shirt with graphic language dissing President Clinton.

Delp, 42, of Carlisle, Pa., and a friend had just settled into their seats when four Capitol security guards approached them. Delp said at the time that he was ordered to button his coat and follow the guards. Outside the chamber, he was told "several people felt threatened by your shirt."

Even after establishing that Delp was a guest of Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), the guards wouldn't let him back in and escorted him to a basement security area, where they questioned and photographed him.

After being given one of the photos as a souvenir, Delp said he was banned from the Capitol for the rest of the day. "They were polite and professional," Delp added, "but they really did scare me. I think I should have been given the chance to cover up."

Several others were removed during President Clinton's tenure for disturbances related to the Monica Lewinsky affair.

Hardly worth even discussing if that's all she did to get arrested. I guess Mr. "Mission Accomplished" Bush couldn't take the chance of a TV camera spotting it and zooming in on her.

I mean he does a good enough job of making himself look like a chimp all by himself, he sure doesn't need any help, especially at "HIS" speech. ;)

She bothers both the corrupt Republicans and the corrupt Democrats. They all voted for this criminal war. So she bothers the brainwashed fans of both parties as well. The people who criticize her do not value freedom very highly. Since when the citizens of a free country should be arrested for wearing a t-shirt or showing a banner that criticize people in power? I do not accept that some public and political places should be critic-free zones. In a dictatorship like China I understand, but not in a democracy...she proved once more that this country is not a democracy, not a free country, because the people in power want to be protected from critical citizens. A real democratic politician would never ever let a citizen be arrested for a t-shirt or a banner. Some people here value order much more than freedom. They should go see a shrink to understand how their parents turned them into control freaks.

Here's what took place according Assoc. Press....

Activist Cindy Sheehan Arrested at Capitol

By LAURIE KELLMAN
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON

Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a fallen soldier in Iraq who reinvigorated the anti-war movement, was arrested and removed from the House gallery Tuesday night just before President Bush's State of the Union address, a police spokeswoman said.

Sheehan, who was invited to attend the speech by Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D- Calif., was charged with demonstrating in the Capitol building, said Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider. The charge was later changed to unlawful conduct, Schneider said. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Sheehan was taken in handcuffs from the Capitol to police headquarters a few blocks away. Her case was processed as Bush spoke.

Schneider said Sheehan had worn a T-shirt with an anti-war slogan to the speech and covered it up until she took her seat. Police warned her several times that such displays were not allowed, but she did not respond, the spokeswoman said.

Police handcuffed Sheehan and removed her from the gallery before Bush arrived. Sheehan was to be released on her own recognizance, Schneider said.

Woolsey offered Sheehan a ticket to the speech _ Gallery 5, seat 7, row A _ earlier Tuesday while Sheehan was attending an "alternative state of the union" press conference by CODEPINK, a group pushing for an end to the Iraq war.

Sheehan, wrapped in a bright pink scarf against the cold, protested outside the White House with a handful of others before heading to the Capitol Tuesday evening. There were no cameras around, but the small band faced the executive mansion and repeatedly shouted, "You're evicted! Get out of our house!"

Sheehan was arrested in September with about 30 other anti-war activists in front of the White House after a weekend of loud and disruptive protests against the war in Iraq. In August, she spent 26 days camped near Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, where he was spending a working vacation.

Sheehan was not alone in her arrest, 3 other persons were removed for the Presidential address as well.

Look you little twit, yes, she lost a son, so have a lot of people. A very good friend of mine lost his son but nearly everyone agrees as does my friend and his wife (whom voted for Kerry and are Democrats BTW) that this woman is not doing anything good for their efforts or for the efforts of the troops.

Her sons friends have stated that he would be embarrassed by her actions, he loved loved his military life and new the risks. Her family does not support her actions and her husband is now her Ex-Husbandover her actions because they all agree this is not what their son, grandson, etc. would have wanted.

Again, try to understand, there are rules that must be adhered to by EVERYONE attending. If you choose to ignore them, you're removed. She is not the only one this has ever happened to, it happened during Clinton's speechs, Bush 1's, Reagan's, Carter's, Ford's, Nixon's, LBJ's, Kennedy's, etc. and it will continue to happen.

Twit? Really? Just because her family doesn't support her, doesn't make her cause wrong. And she has done alot of good in bringing to light the lies, deception and cowardly behavoir of the administration regarding this misguided war in Iraq. If you choose to follow king george, by all means do, but please realize that you and the rest of your ilk are now in the minority.
We as a nation do not approve of dubya's way of (a) handling the war in Iraq (b) handling healthcare (c) handling the economy (d) handling social security (e) handling the blatant corruption that is not only sweeping through congress but the oval office as well.

If you would take the time to check and think/act rationally, you would get the point. She has made her cause wrong by aligning with people like Chauvez and other radicals. She has become a tool for them. Veterans groups and support groups for those KIA troops as well as the DNC do not want her or her name associated with them anymore.

Just because you don't think I am thinking or acting rationally has zero affect on my take on this. It seems as though someone thought enough of her to give her a seat to the sotu. If anyone isn't thinking rationally, it's the narrow minded, Orwellian administration. "With us or against us" I think that says it all.

And then, there's this....

Florida Rep.'s Wife Says She Was Ejected From State Of Union

POSTED: 7:07 am EST February 1, 2006

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The wife of Rep. C.W. Bill Young, R-Indian Shores, told a newspaper that she was ejected during the State of the Union address for wearing a T-shirt that says, "Support the Troops Defending Our Freedom."

Beverly Young told the St. Petersburg Times that she was sitting in the front row of the House gallery Tuesday night when she was approached by someone who told her she needed to leave.

She said she reluctantly agreed, but argued with several officers in an outside hallway.

In a telephone interview with the newspaper, Young said she told them her shirt wasn't a protest but a message of support.

Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said Young wasn't ejected from the gallery and she left on her own. She couldn't provide additional details.

Seems they were impartial at least.

As am I. Nothing wrong with either t-shirt. This is America and unless that t-shirt is screaming and carrying on, then I have no problem with anything a t-shirt says (as long as it's not vulgar). At the "State of the Union" speech, you'd think that they'd want to display the actual "state of the union".

Exactly my point! There is nothing wrong with either T-shirt! The problem does not come from this administration or Clinton, or any recent administration. It has been a rule/law for many years and many people have been removed for the same as well as other methods considered disruptions by Capital Police.

I never made a position toward Clinton, GHWB, Reagan, Carter policy towards "displays" during the SOTU.

But considering this President's propensity of disallowing dissent of any sort ANYWHERE, this is just another example of his "pussiness".

It does? Was she arrested? Did they do it before or after they arrested Sheehan?

It was before, yes she was arrested and released. Listen to CNN...

It wouldn't surprise me though she wasn't a "deflector", so they could claim impartiality.

There apparently were 5 total removed but details have only emerged over these two I imagine because of their ability to grab attention by the media and make a story...
