Relax, light up, enjoy the smell and taste of the smoke. You'll probably get pretty lightheaded if you inhale the whole thing, but I know plenty of HERFers who inhale a few puffs.
Cigar smoking isn't about getting a nicotine fix, it's about enjoyment, and you pretty much smoke it however you like.
It's best if you smoke slowly, though :)

i smoked my first cuban this weekend (in canada)
it was a wonderful cigar
it came with a little piece of cedar to light it with, so you dont get the butane inside the cigar

i usually suck in so the smoke just touches my throat, then breath thru my nose, while enjoying the flavor for a moment.
if you are used to smoking anything, you can inhale if you like.

LOL
Think about it--fine cigar that is 100% pure tobacco v. average cigarette that is mostly fiberglas and plastic. Which do you think is very poisonous?
You may get more nicotine exposure because there's no filter and you are also directly touching tobacco with your lips/tongue, and the smoke is "harsher" having no filter, but it's no more poisonous than cig smoke, and probably LESS poisonous.

But that's about it. gently pull in the smoke, feel it on your tongue and palette for a bit, then let it out.

If you find you don't like the flavor of regular cigars, I recommend trying flavored. Most premium cigar shops don't carry much variety when it comes to flavored cigars - purists think putting sugar in the cigar is blasphemy. Tatiana makes a great flavored cigar. I've seen Tatianas at several cigar shops, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding them. Cinnamon is my favorite. :)

with cigars beware of throat cancer, its nasty! :Q

that being said, i enjoy a few cigars a year (3-4).

my favorites are the cuban montecristos. they cant be beaten. romeo y juliettas are ok, but not quite as good in my opinion.

but then again im not nearly the connoisseur that some others are.

as for how to smoke it, johngute gave a good description.

oh and dont forget to practice smoke rings :D

I have no idea, but I've always wanted to learn. :)

I have smoked one Romeo y Julieta a few years ago that I bought at a Canadian cigar store, and it was wonderful. Best cigar I've ever had. Usually round here I get El Productos from my local Walgreens, or maybe some of those pipe tobacco cigars - very mild and nice. A few weeks ago I tried a Partagas, dominican, and it sucked - it was so hard to pull any smoke through it that it really wasn't worth it at all. An 8 dollar smoke gone bad.
