Cigar recommendations?

I am not a cigar smoker so I know little about them,... but I am looking for suggestions on what would be a good cigar to get as a gift if anyone has knowledge.

are you in a cigar making country? im not a big cigar smoker but i brought back a bunch of dominican Cohibas and all my cigar smoking friends said it was the best one they've ever had.

The best would be the brand that the recipient prefers. Failing that that brand names with the most cachet

Cohiba
Macanudo
Fuente Opus X
Padron Anniversary Series
Montecristo - Only the #2

A friend of mine smokes a lot of cigars and recommends Cigars International. One of the 5-star sampler packs would be a great gift.

swisher sweets? 😉

what everyone else said .. cohibas, macanudos, montecristos ... just go to a cigar shop and buy something expensive. 😛

thats pretty much how it works; you get what you pay for

Look up something by Drew Estates, their Natural line are really good cigars. Or if you are wanting a flavored cigar, their Acid line has a little something for everyone.

The kind you cant get in the states. I found a bunch of nice cuban cigars in St Maarten and thats all I like now.

i've been told that some brands like cohiba's dominican grown are very close in taste to the cubans, mainly because they all come from the same seeds. a local told me that when castro took over a bunch of cubans fled and took the tobacco seeds to the dominican and grew em there so they are virtually the same. dominican cohibas are much easier to bring into the US, and i couldn't find a reason why the locals would lie to me about that because they were selling cubans for $5 more than what i bought the dominican cohibas for.

Personally, I think Dominican Cohibas suck, they're nothing like the Cuban variety. Same seed yes, same soil and climate no. The high end brands coming out of Nicaragua and Honduras are more akin to Cubans than anything that comes out of the DR.

Thanks for all the replies,...

I will do a little subtle questioning to get an idea of possible interest in strength,...

I always feel a little better doing a bit of research or getting some knowledge prior to making purchases so I don't feel totally loss or have immediate buyers remorse

you guys are awesome! Again thanks!
