CIA told to get Saddam..

To me this means we already have or have had some special forces teams over there. Are you guys as surprised by this as me?

more than likely it means the CIA is probably organizing a new government and will provide the funds for the coup d'tat when the time comes, hopefully backed up by some U.S. military support like we should have done in Desert Storm.

What groups in Iraq would the US be giving funds to? I though Saddam pretty much ruled with an iron fist.

BTW, I am not trying to be a smartass. I really am not very familiar with the groups in this region.

it will probably be a supported uprising in my unhumble opinion, so the cia will be getting guns and bombs distributed and a commandinfrastructure or whatever, as usa cant do a ground war, they will have to do jumps from the sea and small gulf states and somewhere from the north. saddam is screwed unless he can liquidate the ppl who would lead from the inside, and or do something that will prevent us from being in-region in the small gulf states, like coordinated alqaida lorry/ scuba attacks.

There have I believe been three attempted millitary coups. With international support the next one should be a success but the CIA is gonna wanna hand pick the replacement like usuall and given their history of choices I wouldn't say the replacement is going to be better.

I'm no expert on the region either, but there are a couple of groups like the Iraqi National Congress have already set up shadow governments for when saddam is gone. Saddam does rule with an iron fist. Remember during the gulf war when he carried out a chemical attack on a Kurdish village, killing upwards of 5,000 people. All the more reason for groups that want some sort of democratic reforms to exist. Its kind of like hte North Koreans, 90% probably don't give a flip about communism and just want to eat, but since their government is so brutal there is nothing they can do about it except tote the party line.
