Ok, your president had intel that said he still had them. That, and the lack of proof to the contrary, might be logical reasons to go to war. In retrospect, the intel was very, very bad. Who is responsible for bad intel that led to war? A bureaucrat? No, when the blunder is of this magnitude, the buck stops with the President. He is ultimately responsible for the actions of the executive branch.

One should not go to war to avenge crimes committed 20 years ago. The only justification for the loss of life of war is the prevention of future loss of life.

Consider this: Would you advocate an invasion if it were found that a senior Nazi were alive and well and living in some godforsaken country? I remind you of the cost: Trillions of dollars, well over 10 000 civillians killed, the loss of over 1000 American soldiers, and an uncertain, possibly chaotic, possibly despotic future in that country.

You have only 7 of 33 army brigades who are ready for deployment. You are also in a time of relative instability in foreign policy, where you need your armed forces to be at it's greatest strength. Instead, they are in Iraq.

Saddam was toothless.

In a time of crisis, your nation spent it's big uppercut on an old man
