Heh, so Toyota which is in a good financial position did everything it could to hide its gas pedal problem but Chrysler the bankrupt company admits the problem and fixes it after 5 consumer complaints.

lol. i think i see a lot of them around here. they're all owned by beer distributors or something - they've got 'budweiser' or some other company decals on them.

Toyota never had a gas pedal problem, though did they? They replaced some pedal assemblies with too much friction out of an overabundance of caution and due to pressure. There was no connection to the supposed stuck throttles, iirc.

IIRC, there still isn't any evidence that throttles were actually sticking on Toyotas, is there?

The Lexus incident was due to an odd floormat problem and driver errors, iirc.

Ever since Toyota issued the largest recall in U.S. history late last year for faulty floor mats and subsequently found itself under the gun for more issues involving sudden unintended acceleration, it seems the number of recalls issued by automakers has risen sharply. It could be just that we're paying attention to recalls more now, or it could be that other automakers are taking advantage of the cover offered by Toyota's troubles to issue their own recalls under the radar.
