I once dog-sat for a freak pug that ate its food like that. We learned quickly that we had to feed Dante in very small portions at a time, otherwise he would choke to death. First time, we dropped all the food in his bowl, and he just face planted all over the bowl, inhaled deeply without any chewing...he did this so furiously that he literally started standing up on his hind legs as he started pressing his face deeper and deeper into this food. That isn't an exaggeration. Every swallow resulted in furious choking/coughing, then more inhaling.
I thought this thing was going to kill itself just trying to eat, so we just started dropping a handful of pellets in the bowl at a time.
