I never liked him anyway. Too cocky or something. Haven't seen him for a while though.

I like him, he is a great fighter. He put up a good fight, and lost in a decision.

Agreed. All he does is punch, aside from very good take down D.

However, that was a really great fight card the other night. Good I'm not a betting man, I'd of lost my ass on a couple of those. Only one boring fight IMO.

Hah, ok. He goes undefeated for how many years as the champ. Its hard to overrate the champion. He's lost two in a row now so of course he's not looked at as the best anymore.

Thats true Bill, but how many were thanks to the same kind of "lucky" shot Rampage hit him with? I watched it at a friend's with a pretty good crowd, and almost synchronized, 3 of us said " He still fights with his hands down! WTF?!? Keith took good advantage of his "digging in" with the leg kicks too, I wouldn't want to be Chuck trying to walk the next day. ;)

EDIT; I should clarify that I have mucho respect for him, but without the intimidation factor he had before, and given everyone clearly sees the beloved patriot in the armor now, his legs are going to get murdered by anyone smart enough to attack them. His side wasn't lookin' too good either.

he was then champion for a long time. sure he lost to teh NOW heavywaight champion Coulter but beat him twice.

sure he lost to Rampage. though i am suprised he lost to Dean. it looked like he just really didnt care.

You can't be serious. How many consecutive times did he successfully defend his title?

Just because he doesn't fit the mold of a UFC fighter doesn't mean he was overrated.

My definition of over rated wouldn't be based on record, but rather skill set. He always has the puncher's chance, and he is damned hard to take down and mount, but I surmise retirement ain't far off now.

All true, but it doesn't change the fact that he won over and over and over again against the top competition. This doesn't make him overrated. It makes him a champion with a fatal flaw.

I don't know about washed-up. No chucky defense force here, just pointing out that the nature of the sport increases the parity factor. Anyone can win by a quick KO or submission (not that this particular fight was like that). Liddell had a nice run... I don't doubt that he will be adding to the Wins column in the near future. He's still a big draw... he's still the Ice Man.

sure he does not h ave the ground game others have. many others do not have his power. or ground defence not to mention he can take a punch. that combonation is pretty good.

hell by that defination Gracie's were over rated. since they only had a ground game.

retirement? maybe. 2 loses in a row is harsh. but we will see.

though i do think he is outclassed in the devision

yeap. with the infux of new talent the game has changed. He needs to work on his skills.

he needs a real defence other then blocking with his face. Dean showed a major weakness with the leg kicks. Liddel wouldnt/couldnt block them or move. he just took them and tried to counter punch wich dean blocked or just took.

Overrated? Are you high? He heald the title for years and racked up a who's who knockout list of the best MMA fighters in the world. I'm no Liddell fanboy, in fact, if anything I'm a Rampage fanboy, but to call him (Liddell) overrated just makes you look stupid. He's been at the top of the light heavyweight food chain for the last ~ 5 years if not more.

In his days of being champion it was very rare that his opponent would be a skilled striker. He's got this awkward stance he uses which DOES help him out for for power punching but he doesn't protect his legs, body or head making a skilled kickboxer have his way with him.

Maybe the man isn't overrated (if you want to talk about wins and all) but his fighting STYLE definitely is.

he isnt completely overrated, hes just one dimensional, and its hurting him now. mma has evolved and his time has come and gone, and it doesnt look like hell be able to adapt.

his striking ability is crazy, the first round of that fight is a testament to that fact. all he does is punch guys in the face and go for knockouts. jardine had a great plan, he weathered the storm and took away all of chucks power and that was that.
