Wow, that's a shame. I liked watching the Bulls battle the Thugs...i mean Pistons back in the late 80's/early 90's. 🙂

R.I.P.

You could have just briefly described who he was in your OP, especially since clicking on the first link gave me an auto-starting video with sound and an irritating Javascript popup thing.

tl;dr: You have failed as an OP.

You're the one who fails here. Any real man:

A. Knows who Chuck Daly is.
B. Knows that ESPN.com has flash video on like every freaking page that auto starts.

You're obvious not informed about either one....hand your man card in and leave the thread!

He lived a full life and gave us solid basketball for us to enjoy. I have nothing but respect for the man, and thank him for the childhood memories of the Bulls/Piston battles and the first Dream Team. May he Rest in Peace.

I would call posting a link to ESPN with "nba" in it providing a brief description.

RIP Chuck Daly. No NBA coach was more respected than him in his heyday. He was the perfect guy to coach the '92 Olympic team, I don't think anybody ever questioned that decision from the day it was announced.

20 years after the fact, the only image that ESPN and the rest of sports media puts out there is the Bad Boys/fighting/rough stuff, but the thing I always remember about his Piston teams was that the bench was so deep and good, they were brought in to change the game and spark a run, not just give the other guys some rest. The elite teams all had at least a couple bench players like that. The 6th Man used to be a big deal.

I liked the NBA better back then.
