Chrysler reveals next-gen 300 sedan in viability presentation

Not so sure I like it, actually I think the current generation looks a bit better. It's hard to say from a single rendering though. Something about it makes me think of a Ford.

Looks fairly similar to a 500. I think the current one looks good as well. This one seems too curved for what it is. The hard edges of the current one set it apart and look good.

Grand Cherokee looks great!

The 300 looks like a basic exterior refresh but it does look good.

Chrysler needs a good midsize car - the Sebring/Avenger are crap. I think the interior of the Sebring is pretty nice, its just the weak drivetrain, poor fuel economy & elastic chasis.

Caliber needs a new fuel efficient powerplant as well.

HUH???

I think Jeremy Clarkson said it best when he said the 300C was impressive from any angle and that it looked like the car "Had been designed by Al Capone."

American cars may be shit, but at least they have character. And surprisingly, in this case, Clarkson admitted this car was both stylish, powerful, clever, and a bargain.

EDIT: Speaking about the contemporary 300C.

He talks about it, and Mae discusses the Monaro Vauxhall.

looks just like the current 300, but slightly smoother. what chrysler really needs are competitive small and mid-size cars. the caliber is awful, and the sebring and avenger are terrible. honestly, i think chrysler should start rolling with the 200C concept.

small/mid sedan: 200C to do both, or a separate 100C and 200C for small and mid size.
large sedan: 300C
T&C minivan
maybe a halo car/sports car. i loved the crossfire but it was overpriced for its specs / underpowered for its price. the firepower would be godly.
i'd love to kill the aspen.

Ehh close enough lol

The problem have with this two is not the design. As a family that owns one of each of these models, the updates look great. I want to know how at 30-40k price point they are going to sell these. In the coming economy people are not going to be able to purchase or lease such expensive vehicles. Chrysler is already finding out they can't move the old inventories with discounted prices, rebates & 0% financing. These new models will look good in the showroom, but not show up in many garages.

I can't believe those are the actual slides used in a presentation to the United States government. 3 minutes in photoshop/indesign gets you billions of dollars. Pathetic.

Seriously, it looks like an ad from a used car dealer in the newspaper.

I don't know why Chrysler ever killed off the 300M and replaced it with this gangster-esque horribly designed POS. It went from car of the year to POS overnight, and it continues to do so. I'm not surprised that Chrysler is doing so poorly. Instead of building on an award-winning design, they trashed it.

the current 300 is 10000x better looking than the 300M, and it has sold much better too, IIRC

To each their own I suppose. I have a background in design and am not a fan of the 300.

I thought the 300M was one of the nicest cars on the road when it came out.

I like the 300 a lot. Chrysler needs small/midsized cars that don't suck. The amazing thing is, there are still people buying the PT Cruiser, Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass/Patriot, Sebring sedan, Dodge Durango, to name a few. There are so many better cars out there comparable in price.

Another car only looking good for few American buyers. I think it has identity, but the identity that only sold to few people. The rest of us will say 'meh'. Good luck Chrysler with your retro designs --- if you survive with those terrible designs.

I tested the avenger R/T. Suspension is loads better than the base. I felt power was pretty good too. As fun to drive as the Aura XR, for me anyway. Probably doesn't take much to impress me though.

Ghastly. Not the looks, but the package/idea.

What would save them are lightweight designs that would offer :

Family sedan available with a 180hp 4-cylinder motor and 5-speed auto that gets ~30mpg in combined driving at $19k or less decently equipped.
Economy car available with a 135hp 4-cylinder motor that gets ~35mpg in combined driving @ $11k or less in a pretty stripped package.

Have higher-spec motors or configurations available for those that want them (and to sell the 'prestige' of the models), but I would have to think that if they went to the basics with these two bread-and-butter segments, and focused on a lightweight and fuel efficient clean design ethic, that they could really get some momentum.

With the global economy tanking, nobody in their right mind wants to spend $30k+ on a Dodge, unless it's one of the final unsold Vipers lurking around, or a nostalgic person buying a Challenger even though the Mustang matches it for $10k less.

Fail. Not because of the looks but because of the times. This is not a model that Chrysler should be promoting now in this economic climate.
