Chrysler Prowler = POS

StageLeft

No Lifer
$46k for this hunk of junk that comes standard with a 4 speed auto and a mind-bogglingly sad 253 HP. Why? would you buy that over a Corvette convertible that you can get for $4k less with 350 HP?!

Because it looks WAAAAAAAAAAYYYY cooler. 😉

Agreed. Image over substance is the tread in the auto world today.

Look at that POS Escalade 50K for what basically a chaep 20 grand pickup wit back seats for 30K more.

Cus when cruising, the Prowler will get you ass. The Corvette won't. 🙂

You've got to be kidding. To quote Bill Paxton from True Lies:

"The vette...............get's 'em wet."

😉

PS Yah the prowler is kind of a stinker, looks nice tho. 🙂

Remember, he was talking about a classic 'vette. 😉

The prowler is about appearance, not speed. It's for 60 year old men crusing the main drag at 10MPH with their hot 25 yo gf. No one is ever actually going to race a prowler the way you might with a 'Vette.
The 'Vette also doesn't evoke the same memories the Prowler does.

I thought Chrysler was working on a "Growler" that had a more powerful engine and a real manual, anyway?

But yeah....if HP is what you're after, you're barking up the wrong tree with the Prowler. If you want a street rod with some power, build your own...probably cost you less than $46k. Also, good luck FINDING a Prowler for $46k. Usually more liek $60k.

LOL, touche. 🙂

Here's your reason right here....

This is the one, yes... yes, yes. I saw three of these parked outside the local Starbuck this morning, which tells me only one thing. There's too many self indulgent Wieners in this city with too much bloody money!

3.5 V-6/4A 0-60, s. 6.26

60-0 Braking, ft. 146.00

Not bad, though the brakes could do just a bit better....

i found some used prowlers going under 40K.. not bad i must say. Though If I do buy one I will take out the auto tranny and pop in a manual one at the flywheel. Ofcourse question is is it possible to do so. otherwise I will put an whole new engine in there.

or better yet get a wrecked proweler and build it up with your own specs..

253HP, but they're pretty light. Plus, they're a specialty car. Sometimes you just pay for the image (look at Bently's)

O ahahahahhahaa. So let me get this straight: A 40 year old with his wife beside him and the kids in the back who paid half that for his altima SE can hang neck and neck with this at the lights?

Or a 19 year old who just bought his mustang GT can beat it?

I agree it's a nice looking car - but it's mostly nice looking because it LOOKS like it's a bad ass. Knowing that in fact it isn't makes it a bit lame. I'm sure it's fun to drive of course but then so is that convertible vette that cost less and goes much much faster.

why would you want a vette?

I love vettes, but whats the deal with society today. Everyone gets the same damn thing. Put me in a grey honda accord, and i'd go nuts. I see 10000000000000000000000000000 of those things every week.

U get the prowler to be different, you dont buy it to smoke someone off the line at a red light in your neighborhood.

So be different with a good car. If you want different take that grey honda and paint it with a yellow stripe.
