I'm not even going to give any Government/UAW Motors vehicle a chance. Not even going on the lot to look. It's the only way I can be heard on the matter, with my wallet.

I own a 2008 Jeep and I love it, and I am a longtime Chevy owner and fan.

I've bought 3 Dodge vehicles in a row, but their product mix right now doesn't interest me. If they come along with something that I'm interested in and has a good price, sure. If not, then not right now.

The reality is I have flown on bankrupt airlines; I would be okay with driving a car from a bankrupt company.

So you like Dodge trucks, but since the government is helping them out, you won't buy a Dodge truck and thus helping kill the company completely while taking the government money with it...

If you like a Dodge truck, buy it. Then there's a chance the company can survive, the government will remove its influence, and the government may even get a little of that money back.

I like the looks of the Dodge Ram trucks and the Viper (though I currently have no need for either one), but generally am not impressed with the looks of the rest of the line. Last year I rented a Dodge Nitro while my car was in for service, and I have to admit that was the worst SUV I've ever been in. It was terrible... The seats were marginally comfortable, while the controls and internal fittings looked and felt like they were made of gray Fisher Price plastic. Barf.

I have no problems buying parts for my 1988 cherokee, why should chrysler dying today affect the aftermarket parts makers?

Drove Fiats in Italy recently. They seem like decent cars. A lot better than what they were producing in the 80s and early 90s. I drove a Punto and a Panda and another model and they handled the Autostrada just fine. You see a lot of Fiats in Europe. I would seriously consider an economical and fuel efficient Fiat the next time I'm in the car market.

AFAIK car makers are supposed to keep a supply of used parts for up to 10 years after a line is discontinued, so you should be safe.
