Chrysler ad w/ Eminem

Do you wear overalls on a regular basis? Because that might explain it.

Em is definitely bigger, but without the bleach blonde hair and with him laying low the last few years (relatively, at least) he's not quite as identifiable. I mean I still knew him, but whereas mom and dad might have known him before as "that white rapper with the bleached hair who hates everyone" he might have been just "some guy" now. Though that's probably preferable.

I don't remember, was Em's name shown or said anywhere in the ad?

Again... 27 million fans on Facebook, tied for 2nd.... I don't think he's not "identifiable". He just had the best selling album of 2010.

remember the Dodge ad with George Washington charging the British in a Challenger?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqpJvey-7-s

The Challenger is built in Canada.

edit: "built" means assembled

Like all Apple products.... Apple which is supposed to be an American symbol builds everything in China, but "designs" it in America. Like Lacoste polos designed in France but manufactured in Peru, Morocco, etc.

Bottom line, who cares? People don't think of Canada when they think of Chrysler/Dodge and they don't think of China when they think Apple.

"Hertz, Budget, and Enterprise were probably thrilled" when they saw this commercial - autoblog

Nothin wrong with that. I would never buy a Chrysler, but I'll definitely rent one the first chance I get. Driving a Neon 30mph over a speed bump is more fun than you can possibly have in your own car 😀

I couldn't name a single Eminem song but I could name a few Kid Rock songs.
I dislike Eminem and from what I know of Kid Rock.
Songs off the top of my head:
Eminem: Lose Yourself, Real Slim Shady, My Name Is, whatever song he sang with Elton John at the Grammys, Love the Way You Lie
Kid Rock: that remake of Sweet Home Alabama

Eminem was huge when I was in high school (graduated in 02) so that's how I know his songs. Love the Way You Lie has been played a lot recently so that's how I know that one.

The only song that I know of Kid Rock's was just based off a Lynard Skynard song. That's it.

Woah, fuck that guy. This is how he chooses to walk back his "shyster" loan remark:

"As the only parties willing to underwrite the risk associated with Chrysler's recovery plan, the two governments levied interest rates that, although appropriate at the time, are above current market conditions."

Fuck him and Chrysler. Welcome to the real world that when you sign a contract you are held to those terms until the contract is fulfilled. A lot of people burned themselves for not understanding that. Welcome to that club. They lent you a shit load of money THEN, to save your asses, not now in 2011.

I wish Ford or GM had made this commercial. Those companies have shown they can actually make competitive cars. That still remains unseen for Chrysler.

Didn't say he wasnt, but when you compare Eminem as "Marshal Mathers" of today to Eminem as "Slim Shady" the vulgar, hateful, musician that poisons our children's minds of yesterday I think the latter was more recognizable. More press, and more physically recognizable with the blonde hair.

I finally watched the rest of the super bowl today. I had to work during the game but I still wanted to watch it. The Chrysler add was pretty amazing. It was a lot more than an add introducing the 200 (which seems pretty unimpressive in my opinion). I felt like it was saying, "you need us more than you think." They did a pretty good job of summing up a large part of the country's history in a minute or so.

He's just as big, if not bigger today then his early days.

Please show me any rapper, or hell any musician that has 197 MILLION views for a music video on youtube??? Wow.

Bieber, Gaga, Shakira all do. Though they're the only ones. In fact that's Em's second most viewed video. Looking at the numbers I'm surprised actually, I wasn't aware his Recovery album was so well received (it seems).

In spite of that, I still think that as far as physical recognition goes, he would have been more identifiable a few years ago when his image was more distinct and his movie was fresher. He's doing exceptionally well by any measure, I think he just gets a different kind of exposure now.

Apparently Chrysler 200 was the top serach term on google today?

no, it was the 5th most searched term on google

#1 was "super bowl commercials"
http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends?q=chrysler+200&date=2011-2-7&sa=X

also interesting to watch the spike after the commercial compared to the prior like 20 days
http://www.google.com/trends?q=chrysler+200&ctab=0&geo=all&date=mtd&sort=0

(even more funny to see that Detroit and CLE lead the searches for it, as well as Italy being 3rd in searches by country for the term)

Don't forget his other commercial. They've been playing the hell out of this one on cable lately.

Seems like he now has an angry, take no sht image.

I think they did a good job on the commercial making the car look as good as possible. I'm pretty sure they picked black on black and then darkened it even more and then used quick shots and lots of zooming so you can see as little detail of the car as possible.
I mean really, look at how ugly the thing is in silver in daylight http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/16/first-drive-2011-chrysler-200/

:barf:

I understand their reason for going with the 200 over the 300, but I really don't think anyone really would have cared that the 300 isn't actually built in Detroit. I still think they should have used that instead.

I finally got around to watching it, and while decent I don't see why everybody's getting all mushy over it. So they make cars in Detroit... does that make it less of a shithole? They even mention something about "this isn't the windy city", but chrysler gets the vast majority of their steel from chicago and surrounding cities. Without the windy city, you'd have nothing to make your cars with.
