I plan on playing it again in RGB on a real SNES once my Sony PVM CRT monitor arrives.
Never played it, I should someday.

The nearly perfect game.
Can't have some love without hate. All the Final Fantasies are garbage compared to CT. I would compare it to some other JRPGs, but I don't want this masterpiece to share the same title "JRPG" and be compared to all the garbage that goes by that label.
4, 5, 6 are what I consider the defining games in the Final Fantasy series. 6 is up there right next to CT, and 4 is just timeless.
7, 8, 9 are riced out shallow garbage, 10 was "ok".

What about Chrono Cross on PS1?
I still think that's one of the best games i've ever played. I liked it more than CT.
If we are going into PS1, then Xenogears takes all easily. Sorry Crono
Nothing will change your perspective on life and raise the hairs on your neck like Xenogears.
Xenogears was great, but a bit too convoluted and overwrought. Most JRPGs are, by nature, to some degree, but Xenogears sort of took it to another level.
17,000 years of story crammed onto two CDs on an under budget project will do that![]()
It's safe to say that Chrono Trigger is my favorite game of all time, and apart from WoW, I've played it the most. Pretty certain I've seen every ending, gotten all characters to ** level with their proper attributes maxed out (** or star-star) via a ton of tabs.
Oddly enough, I never got into Chrono Cross. What I really wanted to play was that Japanese only game featuring Magus on his quest to look for Schala. I believe it was called "Forgotten Dreamers"?
