The cheap Windows systems tend to be a lot heavier and have much worse screens, build quality, and battery life. I've also found the browsing experience Windows 7 netbooks based on Atom or Brazors to be noticeably worse than my OMAP 4430 Android tablet running ICS so Chrome OS does at least have the potential to deliver a better internet experience than Windows at a similar price point.

Exynos 5 should be a lot faster than Tegra 3 so assuming Chrome OS is fairly efficient (it should be since it's just a browser) it should have no problem with most sites.

If it doesn't substantially outperform the Nexus 7 it makes their decision to push Chrome OS on netbooks instead of Android even more bizarre.

Besides offline Google Docs, Diceplayer compatibility would be good. Or at least a decent VLC.

I'm thinking Chrome OS support in general could be decent by the end of 2013.

I don't think it's a good idea to buy a Chromebook. There are other Netbooks in the market that can offer you better deals; furthermore, you can install a Chrome OS on a normal Netbook. If you are looking for a slim portable computer, just buy a tablet and a bluetooth keyboard.

My guess is Google wants to keep Android a touchscreen OS as much as they can (though there is Google TV) and maybe some apps just wouldn't work as well without touch input so much so that they don't want to confuse newbies.

Also if it were running Android it wouldn't have desktop Chrome.

That really makes you wonder... why does every Windows laptop have a terrible trackpad? It's the one thing that stops me from getting an ultrabook.

ChromeOS works much better than chrome for android for a web browsing experience. Remember that it pulls full desktop pages, supports flash, and extensions. The Request Desktop Site feature on chrome for android doesn't always work well.

If you're a user of google talk, this also is a huge plus. Using android, you have to swap back and forth between browser and the google talk app to hold a conversation. On ChromeOS, since it supports extensions, you can browse with the Google Chat extension.
