Chrome Orbs?????

Won't fit on your KT7 without lopping off some of the fins. I'd say pass, use one from AMDs approved list. Shameless plug for the over-achieving inexpensive TAISOL CEK733092.

Don't even think about installing it flipped around, the center won't contact the core correctly.

Actually you can install the chrome orb backward on the KT-7 Raid which is what I did. I'm running my Duron 600@950 and it runs around 38c idle. Just make sure you use thermal grease. While the chrome orb doesn't completely cover the cpu it does cover the little heatsink on the Duron which I believe matters most. I rarely go over 45c under full load.

I hope impressionable people aren't reading this thread.....

Push some caps over...

Install the HSF backwards....

Whew! All I know that I've gotten back a lot of CPUs and boards for the above two "solutions".

Oh crap !!! I almost choked. Install it backwards, gulp. Did you look to see how much of the core is covered by the base of the ORB. About half. Can't believe Jonny was so calm. NEVER install it backwards.
There are so many AMD approved HSF's (no ORB of any kind on AMD's list) that I don't see why people are so taken by ORBs, I think they are mostly show and not much go.
