Of the three - Chrome, Firefox, and Opera -which one is your favorite and why? Factors to consider include (but not limited to, free feel to add others):

(1) Security
(2) Speed
(3) Features set
(4) Compatibility with other applications
(5) Breadth of web site acceptance

I used Opera for years, until it crashed and lost about 12 years of organized bookmarks. Eventually moved all of them online to my Google account, which Opera does not support so I had to move on, but I'd go back in a second if I could even though it's got its quirks.

Currently use FF only because it supports google bookmarks. I would use chrome, but weirdly it does not support any of the google toolbar stuff (or the toolbar itself).

Speedwise Opera and Chrome are the same, FF being slower (imho). Security doesn't really matter to me as I don't do stupid crap when browsing. All of the other stuff is minor.
 
Another FF user. I used Chrome when it came out, nice browser, but I cannot live without Adblock Plus and Addons, once Chrome gets that I'll switch over tomorrow (also waiting for Linux version of Chrome). Opera, tried it and didn't really inspire me so haven't used it since.
 
I've been using FF for years now, works brilliantly for me, sure it's slow to start and everything but I love it. One huge reason is that it has some excellent add-ons which I'm greatly dependent on. 🙂
 
Chrome. Speed is more important to me than bells and whistles. I really missed my add ons when I first switched from FF, but I'm used to it now and I love this browser.
 
Firefox FTW

I don't see how some of you people are saying its slow 😕 mine loads up instantly in a snap, never have to wait :thumbsup:
 
I use Firefox, though I find it to be the slowest of the bunch. I'm used to the layout of it so I stick with it, though other browsers seem "snappier".
 
I use Opera myself. I really like the fact that it has a built in mail client and torrent d/ler, just seems right to me. It's fast, and customizable, and if you like to swap skins, it's easy to do.

Not sure if you know, but Opera will save your bookmarks online if you want it to. Meaning you, you can have the same bookmarks at home that you have at work instantly. You can also sync your notes and history...it's pretty handy

It's not so much waiting, as waiting less with Opera and Chrome(I don't use Apple products ;^)).

Both of those are noticeably quicker, but I just don't care that much. FF is fast enough, and the customization wins the day for me.
 
I think FF is only slow if you have addons, otherwise it's pretty fast. Even with addons, I don't find it slow enough to stop me from using it. The slowness is usually only at launch anyways.

Not sure if you know, but Opera will save your bookmarks online if you want it to. Meaning you, you can have the same bookmarks at home that you have at work instantly. You can also sync your notes and history...it's pretty handy

That's a new feature, and it is pretty cool. It saves your bookmarks, your speed dials. I do enjoy the fact that Opera has features that most browsers took a while to implement (speed dial, tabbed browsing). And it is quick. Especially with mouse gestures.

ditto this. chrome (latest beta) starts in 1 second and renders ridiculously fast. still have the occasional hiccup so keep ff3 around but using it less and less often.
 
OpenDNS seems to make things faster too. I use it with Firefox.

Try it with chrome and see if it goes any faster? lol.

Could you please explain in layman's term what OpenDNS does? I looked at their website and all I get is that it unbundles DNS from ISP. I don't know what that implies but my guess is that it is some sort of traffic redirection. And why would that be faster?
 
I use Polipo with Firefox. It seems to make things somewhat faster, when Polipo isn't crashing. (It crashes on average once a day, but you just restart it and go on browsing.)

At this point, I'd need equivalents for AdBlock Plus, NoScript, and CookieSafe before I'd even consider another browser.

OpenDNS, by the way, is just a different pair of servers you can do DNS lookups from.
 
Opera is no doubt the best browser in my opinion.

I hear so many people say I tested out a browser and uninstalled it after an hour. If you uninstalled it after an hour, it was probably because the interface felt different to you. I have been using Opera for years and the default menu bar sucks but that can be customized. I like online sync for bookmarks, the built in BT client (not that I use torrents more than once a year), I can set a page to refresh every x seconds, the developer styles are great for web development, and mouse gestures are awesome.

Currently I am using IE8. Something that irks me about Opera is that version 9.63 and 9.64 seemed to have introduced some bugs which I do not like. Opera has never crashed in years but it can under these two latest versions. Also, it does not have spell check which is ridiculous for this day and age. IE8 does not have spell check either but with the IE7 Pro addon (even though it does not work 100% in IE8), it adds spell check and mouse gestures (which work most the time).

Opera has been working on version 10 for a while and this will add spell check and a new render engine that gets 10/100 on acid 3. Too bad the beta builds are buggy because once a stable one is out there, I am switching straight back.

Well now I have gone addon crazy...I have GSpace, File Uploader, and Ad Block Plus. What else is cool that I didn't know existed? 🙂

HOLY BATMAN!!!! just installed Chrome and its markedly faster than Firefox, it feels at least 30-40% faster. Been using Firefox for the past few years but I may stick with Chrome if it remains this fast.
