Chrome exhaust tips

So I just finished washing and waxing my car, and I was standing there admiring it, and the thought came to me that a chrome exhaust tip would be a nice touch. So I was wondering...do local auto parts stores carry these things? I'm not interested in making the exhaust look bigger or anything, I'd just like a chrome tip that fits snugly over it. It'd also be nice if the chrome finish was high quality and wouldn't chip or tarnish easily. Any particular brand I should look for?

On a different note, there's a guy at my apartment complex that has this ghetto Ford Focus with chrome trim up the wazoo. Trunk lid, all the doors, quarter panels, you name it. Ridiculous.

KingNothing, your local autoparts store sould have a small selection, just go in knowing the radious of your current tail-pipe and you should walk out happy 🙂

I bought some Mothers polish and got the same effect for my 2002 Jetta 1.8t. Used half a tlittle tub and that thing shines like nobody's business.

You waxed your exhaust pipe? 😕 I guess that...might...work if it was new...mine's old and sort of burnt-looking at the end. On the waxing subject, I noticed when I was waxing (using 3M liquid wax) that I had to buff the wax off really soon after I put it on to prevent swirl marks on the car. Is this normal? I was working when the sun was low in the sky so it wasn't hot or anything...just pretty humid out. To get rid of the swirl marks I just applied more wax...maybe it's just that the sealant on my car was nonexistent and the paint was soaking up the wax, I dunno.

when you wax a car, you wait for the wax to dry before wiping it off. The "swirl marks" you were seeing was probably jsut dried on wax that you didn't wipe off. Wipe the car down better 🙂

Wow, we posted in each others thread at the exact same time. I was wiping as hard as I could, honest. 😛 Plus when I put more wax on and wiped it off sooner, the swirl marks were gone. So I don't think it was dried wax.
