Chrome browser (desktop mode) can't interact with autohide task bar in Windows 8

Hi all,

I like using "autohide" on my taskbar in the desktop mode of Windows 8. But, when running Chrome maximized in desktop mode, when I put my mouse cursor at the bottom of the screen, the taskbar remains hidden and won't unhide! If I move Chrome out of the way (not maximized), the taskbar behaves normally.

Is there any way to get the taskbar to properly hide/unhide while you are running Chrome maximized in desktop mode and move the cursor down to the bottom of the screen?

I believe it's a bug in Chrome, because Internet Explorer doesn't prevent the taskbar from popping up when internet explorer is maximized in desktop mode.

I use Chrome with Windows 8. Chrome can be run in the 'metro' Windows 8 mode or the typical desktop mode. However, because the telephone and other plugins only work in desktop mode, I need to use Chrome in desktop mode. But, when I want to check the time in the bottom right of my taskbar, I can't get the taskbar to come up unless I move chrome out of the way, very annoying.

My chrome on WS2012 just updated today and it now seems to have a "Windows 8 mode" I dont autohide the taskbar, but you might look into this.

Ah, yes, now I see chrome at current Version 24.0.1312.57 m, and it seems to be working on my single-monitor setup. Next I'll check it on the multi monitor PC and see if it's fully fixed.

I guess it was a bug in the earlier version of Chrome?

Ok now looks like this unwanted behavior is back.

Anybody know how to fix the behavior of Chrome, so that it will allow the taskbar to work properly when auto-hide is enabled in Windows? I hate that when I move my mouse to the bottom of the screen when Chrome is running, my taskbar is unresponsive.
