its so ridiculous!!! They should outlaw all smoking period!!!!!

:( RIP Mrs Reeve....

There is no evidence that she was exposed to 2nd-hand smoke either. I know this might be shocking to your propaganda-filled mind, but lots of people get lung cancer for no known reason. The same way a person might get brain cancer or breast cancer or prostate cancer or lymphatic cancer or whatever else cancer for no known reason at all. Sh!t happens. Personally, I wish we would outlaw ignorant "there oughta be a law" morons like yourself who can't figure that out.

edit: and my condolences to the family on this tragedy. I had the privilege of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Reeve in 2001, and it is an experience that I will never forget. They were truly inspiring people. Braver and stronger in the face of unjust tragedy than anyone I have ever met and (I believe) likely will ever meet. I was truly saddened when I opened my web browser this morning.

..genetic reasons. Once P-53 breaks for what ever reason you'll end up wit lung cancer. In one form or another it's out there waiting for all of us.

there IS evidence she was exposed to second hand smoke. i posted the article which you must've overlooked. being that you met the couple i would venture that you knew Dana was a singer and her singing venues involved clubs that were often smoke filled.

and before you get your boxers in a bunch again, i also did not claim her cancer came from the second hand smoke. hopefully an autopsy is conducted.

Well, if you're going to go there with environmental causes, she also lived in smog-filled NYC.

I meant no known environmental cause or reason.

i was only disputing your claim: "There is no evidence that she was exposed to 2nd-hand smoke either".

Let me rephrase: the likelihood that 2nd-hand smoke caused the cancer that killed her is unbelievably miniscule and remote.

edit: and as such, her death should not be perverted for the totalitarian causes of misguided do-gooding busybodies.

Dana Reeve, Non-Smoker, Diagnosed with Lung Cancer
Aug. 9, 2005 ? Just 10 months after Christopher Reeve's death, his widow Dana Reeve has learned she has lung cancer.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among American women, and, according to the Lung Cancer Alliance, over 60 percent of new lung cancer patients have never smoked or already have quit smoking.

Dr. Derek Raghavan, director of the Cleveland Clinic's Taussig Cancer Center, said that while smoking is the No. 1 risk factor for lung cancer, even people who have never smoked might been exposed to a significant amount of second-hand smoke.

Dana Reeve, a singer, does not smoke. Raghavan said singing in smoky venues is a risk factor.

"There's no way to escape," Raghavan said. "You can't walk away if there's too much smoke, and you're taking deep breaths, so that's not good."

the second hand smoke can't be blamed, but it can't be made blameless either unless an autopsy proves 100% otherwise.
