Christmas WU caching...

Guys,,

as I'm off work for over a week for Christmas break I'm going to do the SETIQ shuffle and cache around 10 days worth of WUs.

For anybody who doesn't already know this trick,

move all your currently cached WUs into a spare directory
restart SETIQ (it will download 5 days more of WUs) (If you have it set to 5 days)
move the original WUs back into the SETIQ directory
restart SETIQ

Hmmmm.....I was JUST thinking about loading up also. I head home on Friday morning for the holidays and I would hate to get there and find that the apartment fleet is not able to connect; thus, has run out of WU's! When I got back from a Thanksgiving trip home there was a message waiting for me saying "Critical Update - Now or Later?" Needless to say, I no longer run Crit Update!! I lost 120 WU's of production that week! 🙁

 
Or, for those of us who can't scan an entire solar system every day, 🙂 we can just set the line "max=" in QSETI.TXT to a higher number than normal (up to 200) in order to get through the holiday...

Personally, I would LOVE to have a problem where I needed to 'cheat' to get enough cache for a long weekend!! 😉
 
the version of setiq i have i can have as many WUs as i like, and i can also get it to work out up to 30 days worth! versoin is: .78b

I've heard that since so many people are running caching software that they wait longer now. Something like 13-16 days I think. I'm not sure exactly how long though it's been awhile back that I heard this.😕
 
I'll be going over to France again on Saturday & coming back Tuesday.I've got to remember to top up my Q.
Looks like our output will drop in that period & then spike! 🙂

Col, I kinda of liked your idea rather than changing the setiq settings. As I don't want to keep the queue at the bloated level, I just want a Holiday bump. This way it will be sending in results and not getting new WU's. Then when I return it will (should) be back to normal.

I finish for Xmas this Friday - 12.00p.m. onwards into as many as Liverpool's pubs as possible before the missus drags me home 🙂

But, I have to do a week in my old job in the new year, so I start the new job Jan 8th...

Lots of travelling / no messing with kit anymore.. 🙁
