Christmas work shutdown.

Does the place you work for shutdown over the holidays?

This coming Thursday is my last day until the 4th of January.

I wish! I get Christmas off and that's it. We were open the past 3 holidays so some other call center is going to be staffed on Christmas instead of us.

That sucks but at least you are getting paid. We have a mandatory shutdown from the 24 to the 4th. No Vacation time, no pay with the exception of the 4 paid holidays.

We get off Christmas day and New Years Day. I took vacation for the rest of it. Off after this Friday until the 4th.

Christmas and New Year's Day
Might as well shut down though as so many folks take vacation days. All the parents who dumped their kids in daycare for the rest of the year all of a sudden discover that family time is very important and need time off for the holidays.*

We close early on Eve if it's not busy (which it never has been in my experience), and majority have Day off.

I'm on-call that week though, so I'm probably boned

Not anymore though.

Place has going down hill is so many ways in the past few years.

I get a couple days off, but if i take 3 vacation days my last day is on the 23rd and i come back on the 4th.

Paid holiday vacation for everybody at my site from the 25th until the 1st. I'm using my last two vacation days on the 23rd and 24th. From the 2nd until the 10th we'll be on an unpaid furlough but January is a 3 paycheck month anyways so it's not too terrible.

Yup. We have off Christmas Day and Christmas Eve, plus get out a few hours early on the 23rd, in order to get to the Christmas Party on time. (The few "missed" hours are still paid.)

Don't know about New Year's Day, haven't checked.
