I just finished the PC in my sig this last week considering I did not do any major gift exchanging this year I guess its my Christmas present. :)

You can order a not quite as nice but similar system from Falcon Northwest for about $2000...the the screenshot of the system builder from Falcon in my sig link.

First, your Sig is bullsh!t.

Second, you must be a 4 year old. "If you got a new Dell, Compaq, Gateway, Hp, ETC. do not waste your time." Wow are you really that petty? Most people dont need "Alienware" or "Falcon Northwest" a simple dell or HP will suit them fine.

Please don't be dumb because IMO the companies you named their (except ABS. which is decent) are crap and I would rather build a system any day of the week.

I agree with Leadfrog... while I may not be a big fan of some brands of computers, why exclude them? Isn't that elitist?

Dell actually makes some nice stuff, most of the people who dog them have never even owned one or at least not one of their better ones. 8XXX series on up.

HP and Compaq also make nice stuff.

The only company listed I have anything against is Alienware who are taking advatage of thier little niche.

I GOT THIS AWESOME DELL. DIMENSION 2300 WITH A BLAZING FAST P4 PROCESSOR AT 2.6GHZ. AND!!! A WHOOPING 128MB OF RAM ALL FOR THE LOW PRICE OF $499

I hate those commercials. People get so taken for on those. What type of computer can u expect for 499. And people really think its an awesome computer. I work in PC Repair store and people get their computers full of spyware, and then they get the bill and its like 150 dollars and they like "Well i can just buy a new computer for $450". Thats a moron statement.
1. Spyware dosent care what kind of computer it is.
2. Your P3 with 512MB of RAM is faster then a new computer that costs 499 dollars.
3. I forgot what 3 is but it pisses me off

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

people get me mad =[

Anyways i didnt get much good for xmas but i will be getting an sli system with a winchester processor after the price rape. Does anyone know when the asus sli board is going to be more available so it can be affordable?

Later guys and gals

And what's wrong with that? You expect to charge somebody $150 to get rid of spyware, so of course people are going to be outrageous when they can just buy a new system for $450. If anybody makes any moron statement, it's you for charging people $150 to get rid of spyware.

Yes, i worked in tech as well. I use to charge $35 just to diagnose the problem, and i guess it's because i was nice, but i normally would run adaware/spybot just to be nice and clear up their system even if the problem had nothing to do with it (ie fixing video drivers).

Nah. If you look around on the Web you'll see plenty of pissed-off former Dell owners. You're statement's just plain wrong. Dell has some of the worst customer support in the business. It sucked before they shipped it out to India, and it's sucked ever since they started taking it back in-house, too. It's sucked for years and years.

With Dell, people (especially clueless home users who don't know an actual good deal anyway) are generally very happy until they first have something go seriously wrong with their system. After that, heartache ensues, and they're not such rabid fans afterward.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Dell has been reknown for having the best CS in the industry, and although for awhile there it was awful because the stuff was outsourced to India, i don't think it's anymore (at least the 3 times i've called in the past couple of months).

Wrong, Dell dude. Er, you have no idea what you're talking about. Touche! (See how stupid your statement is?) I've bought many machines from Dell, including two in the last two years. I finally just had enough. There are plenty of people out there who've had terrible trouble with Dell too.

That snotty saying, "The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'", applies. I'm sort of tired of hearing people like you and malak and PhillippineMango proclaim that Dell is the greatest thing since sliced bread, since you've never had problems yet. Deal with Dell long enough, and you will. A company that pleases half its customers is a very bad company. A company that pleases 80% of its customers is still a bad company by today's standards. Go check out a survey, where Dell is down in the rankings, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Apple and IBM are always at the top, and Dell is down in Sony territory, below even HP.

Edit: I typed this post on a Dell machine, a Precision 450N workstation. Do I still have "absolutely no idea what I'm talking about", asshat?

Your bad experience and others for that matter are not enough to judge the whole company on....its the good experiences you dont hear about and Dell's bottom line is proof. Saying that Dell sucks as a whole is like saying American's are stupid because without their support Dell would be bankrupt... we have choices and many have chosen Dell for a good reason.
I agree that they have declined alot but that is a byproduct of huge growth..surely they cannot maintain but they will either strike a balance or lose their top position. $hitty companies go under in the USA.

BTW lets stop the name calling, its really pointless.

Auctually 150 dollars is nice 65 dollars an hour. 2 hours to clean out spyware is 130 plus tax. Also Dell does have the worst CS in the past 2 years. I spend a lot of time on the phone with Dell, HP/Compaq, Gateway, IBM, etc... Listen i am in the business. I do this all the time. Dell is all outsourced. All of it. It is very difficult to communicate with Dell. HP/Compaq and IBM i feel are at the top. Very good CS. Gateway is kinda in the middle. E-Machines is really good CS too.

If your hard drive from dell goes bad. They send a tech out to your home. And put the Hard Drive in and leave. They tell you to call a number. That to me is not good CS. Reinstall Windows and all the software with a person is very difficult especially with the language barrier. They have a service center in Texas. When that service center in Texas gets filled up then your call gets outsourced. I spoke with one of the CS people from Dell and thats what they told me. If your lucky you talk with someone in Texas.

Back to spyware, most people dont even know what it is. Removing spyware is not just running ad aware and spybot. Its manually going into the registry and looking at all the things starting up and explorer addons and plugins. Spyware is very advanced now. You cant just run 2 programs like you do. It really can take 4 hours but you cant charge 4 hours for that. 2 Hours is really fair and the industry average is 3 hours. Dell is very good at hiding what your really getting in your computer. Non-standard parts (power supplies, and motherboards mainly). The power supplies put out different voltages then normal ones do. I dont think they do that anymore but they did like 3 years ago. You dont even get an AGP slot in all of the low end models unless you pay extra. A 5400 RPM Hard Drive i have seen a couple of months ago. To me thats not value.

Dont tell him he dont know what he is talking about. I am a professional in PC Repair. I do it all the time. We have hundreds of customers and i would say 40 to 50 percent do NOT like dell. That is not a good number at all. We are at the front lines of ALL the spyware and viruses that comes out. We deal with it everyday. We are in a small community and we have a very good reputation.

Of course you fail to realize this is opinion based. You dont need to attack anybody. Its how people feel. You cant argue that.

Just because you use a computer, doesn't mean you know anything about the company, which you obviously DON'T.
