Christians, why isn't pork still unclean?

So, which time was god infallible, the OT, or NT? Maybe he fucked up both times and he's just some douchebag playing games. Or maybe he doesn't exist at all. That's just crazy talk! :^O

it's all the Jews fault 😉

Behold, the days are coming' says the Lord, 'when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah - not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers ... which they broke

Jeremiah 31

The passages people are quoting are interesting.

How can anybody believe that stuff? D:

I mean I'm not trying to troll, I just genuinely don't understand. It's such utter mundane shit, who cares? lol.. Certainly no God I would care to follow.

Yup, God is infallible. One of the perks of being God and all.

The entire Bible both OT and NT is written in parables. Both because it was the writing style of the day and because Jesus chose to teach that way.

god is infallible. the bible is inerrant. jesus christ is fully man and fully divine. he was born of the virgin mary, died on the cross, and rose again. jesus christ will come back a second time to judge the living and the dead. he will send satan into the lake of fire forever. we, who believe, will live in the new heaven and the new earth.

god the father, god the son, and god the holy spirit wants nothing more than for you to know him and eat a limitless supply of bacon in heaven. therefore, repent and believe. continue to spread the gospel, the good news, to the four corners of the world. 🙂

Many of the native American tribes banned the eating of snakes...and pigs ate snakes, so pork was also taboo.

Other than a bit of bacon and ham, I'm not a fan of pork.

There are so many better ways to troll Christians than this thought. Divorce and remarriage is a better one with the less traditional Christians. (Hint: Jesus says divorce/remarriage is committing adultery, yet that isn't talked about much by more modern churches). The "Prosperity Gospel" is another but that's a bit hard to explain.

Pork in America is safer than beef in America and, better quality. After WWII, massive health reforms and quality checks were put in place for swine production.

The whole cook pork to death thing was due to Trichinella spiralis and Taenia solium to a lesser extent. They were all but eliminated. In addition to overcooking, they are some of the only food borne organisms that can be killed by freezing hard. How many grocery stores in America sell fresh pork that wasn't hard frozen at some point? Not very many.

So, you can eat pork at rare and up just like your beef.

Da Chef has spoken
So, let it be written
So, let it be done.

Ractopamine is used in Pork production too no?

That shit is everywhere, even in Taiwan where it is supposedly banned.

Cook to 120 degree F. and remove from heat. You'll gain 5 to 10 degrees while it rests depending on thickness of cut. That is rare which is fine to eat pork at.

You don't listen do ya?

Really Magnus? That seems awfully low even to me. I was doing 140F even before the recent health advisory brought it down from 160F to 145F.

I'll give it shot especially with pork loin. I've ruined more pork loin than I'd like to admit.

Something I have wondered, why is it OK for Christians to eat things like pork and shellfish, when the OT says they are unclean and forbidden?
If you don't know that you're not a true christian. Paulus basically decided to break up Jewish traditions to distance itself from it. It's also the reason Christians dont circumcise/mutilate themselves

what's squaring the circle?

it's pretty simple... Jesus formed a new covenant with God, basically superseding everything from the Old Testament (circumcision, kosher food practices, etc)

lol

"So you see, all those old laws that god demanded we follow were overruled because he impregnated a virgin against her will so that he could be born as a human, then wander about to teach and perform miracles, because, in the end, the only way we can all be saved is if god sacrifices himself to himself and then overcome death and this also overturns hundreds of years of Jewish laws so that's why we can all eat pork and divorce now. It all makes perfect sense! Amen."

ugh, no thanks. Rare pork is horrible. You need time and heat to break down the connective tissues. I use at least 165 degrees for a minimum of 2 hours or the meat will be tough. Sometimes I'll go up to 180 internally and then only let it rest for about 30 minutes and it has the same affect.

120 is just too darn low.

In the bible days if you ate pork you would probably get sick or die.
In the old days, people were very superstitious.

So they created a myth that it was god punishing you for eating a dirty animal.

Now we can eat pork without getting sickly since we have better cooking technology.
Thus, we have reached a level of education that allows most of us to get past such myths.

This is explained in detail in the book of Romans.

Next question: have you ever started a thread without the intention of trolling?

So Paul, who never met Jesus and notoriously disagreed with the church led by the real Apostles in Jerusalem was able to null and void the Jewish laws with one letter? Under who's authority?

I guess we can throw out those pesky Ten Commandments then too.

Why don't you start a thread about Native Americans and the white man's oppression if you are so interested in talking about it. This thread is about OT vs NT

I was pointing out that your theological response doesn't appear to connect to anything in reality.

"Why do bats fly and rats do not?"
"Because Santa bestowed upon bats alone the power of reindeer flight."

While it works internally, externally it has to contend with the fact that birds and insects also fly. Modeling indicates that it's the aerodynamic properties of their wings that allow them to fly; injuries to their wings rendering them unable to fly aligns with this. As reindeer do not have wings to be injured, their flying ability cannot be dependent on having uninjured wings.

So the whole "reindeer flight" mechanic is dubious, just as are your "Holy Spirit" and "complete absence of any ethical understanding outside that taken from a book" ones.

Paulism != Christian

One can choose to follow Christ.
One can choose to follow Paul.
One can not do both simultaneously.

not sure if that is a reference to something.

What I mean is that before Paul showed up, the followers of Christ were still, very much, a heavily Jewish sect. They considered themselves Jews first, but a group that believed Jesus was the Messiah.

As the bigot Paul gained popularity and influence within the sect, he sought to grab a bigger audience to the cause, which meant allowing gentiles into the fold. This angered many. To do this, of course, meant tossing aside many of the kosher traditions that defined the Jewish people. You can bet that snipped dicks was the first requirement to go. Again, pissing off quite a few "true believers"
